Edmund returned to the study with the agreement in his hand. He absentmindedly flipped through the pages, his eyes completely fixed on Pauline's signature at the bottom of every page.

She had signed the agreement without even reading through it. If she had bothered to take a look, she would have known that it was useless.

Gritting his teeth in annoyance, Edmund tore the document in his hand into pieces.

The torn scraps of paper slowly fell into the trash can like snowflakes.

Then, still unsatisfied, Edmund held a lighter down to the scraps of paper, causing them to be swept away by the flame.

In the dark, his face was illuminated by the fire, lending him a breathtaking but sinister glow.

It was not until the agreement was burned to ashes that he turned his eyes from the trash can to the computer on his desk. He stared at the computer screen for a long time, but the words in front of him seemed to swim around. At the moment, he was not in the mood to deal with the company's affairs.

In the end, he went to the balcony and stood there, bathing in the shadows of the night. He stared blankly at the silhouette of the mountains in the distance, lost in thought.

The night breeze was chilly, but he didn't seem to notice it; he stood straight without so much as shivering. Just when he was about to take out a cigarette from his pocket and light it, he heard footsteps approaching.

He turned and found Adriana standing behind him.

Adriana was the closest person to him besides his grandmother. She was the housekeeper who had worked for the Lu family since he was a child.

"Mr. Lu, it's windy at night. Take care of yourself so that you don't catch a cold," Adriana said as she put a coat on him. "And don't smoke too much. You know how harmful it is to your health," she added, giving him a meaningful look.

"Aunt A

Edmund immediately scoffed. This was the first reaction that he had shown in the past few minutes. "Do you think this is worth twenty million?" he asked coolly.

Upon hearing this, the man stood up immediately. "If you don't want to buy these photos, I know other people who will be interested. For example, Mr. Mack He from the Orange Sky Group."

A glint of unhappiness flashed in Edmund's eyes. It seemed that this man had thoroughly investigated the matter before coming here. "I can give you twenty million, but you have to destroy the original copy of these photos. And if these photos ever surface in the future, I assure you that you'll be buried six feet under."

The man nodded; it was a deal. After he left, Edmund took out the photos from the envelope and clenched them tightly, causing the veins on his hand to pop out.

He couldn't believe that Pauline still hadn't made a clean break with Peter. How many men was she stringing along?

"James, get rid of these things!" he barked.

"Yes, sir," James answered in a trembling voice.

Meanwhile, at the Sky Water Mansions,

Pauline was sitting still on the bed and staring blankly at the check in her hand.

A harsh ringtone broke the silence in the room.
