Because of the sex video, the whole hall was in a mess.

In the middle of the chaos, Tiffany stormed over to Pauline and grabbed her wrist. "Is this your doing?" she growled. Her entire face was red in a mixture of anger and embarrassment.

Pauline, who had been smugly watching the screen with folded arms, was caught off guard. However, as soon as Hedy saw this, she rushed to the stage and shoved Tiffany away, protectively standing in between her and Pauline.

"What are you doing? Don't touch Pauline."

Pauline gave Tiffany an indifferent glance. "What if it is? I'm just returning the favor, my sister. As a matter of fact, don't you think you should be thanking me?

I successfully put an end to this wedding. Wasn't that what you wanted?"

Tiffany was too enraged to say a word.

But in her stead, Anthony walked over and slapped Pauline across the face.

"You evil girl, you could have just said that you don't want to get married!

Why did you use your sister as an excuse? Did you ever think what this video would do to her future?

Pauline, you are just as selfish as your mother was,"

he cursed, pointing an accusatory finger at Pauline. He was so furious that the veins on his forehead were popping out.

Pauline slowly brought up her hand to her cheek in a daze. All of a sudden, she felt that the man standing in front of her was a stranger, and not the man that she had called "Dad" for more than 20 years.

'Mom, did you see that? This is the man you cared about so much.

In his eyes, you were just a selfish woman. He never loved you, ' she thought bitterly.

But Pauline soon regained her composure. She had long decided to sever her ties with the Song family, so her father's actions did not affect her that much. "From the day you kicked me out of the Song family's villa, I had nothing to do with any of you except Grandpa,"

she said, looking at him coldly. "Get out of the way."

Frightened by her murderous gaze, Anthony could not help but make way for her.

At this moment, Peter stepped forward and blocked her way. "Aren't you afraid that I will send the photos to Grandpa?" he asked, gritting his teeth.

Pauline sneered. "Mr. Gu, you can have a try if you want to make the headlines tomorrow."

Upon hearing this, Peter's face immediately turned pale. "Pauline, you are such a vicious woman!" he spat.

'Vicious? How can he say that I'm vicious when he's the one who plotted with my sister and pushed me over the edge?' Pauline thought to herself.

Wild laughter threatened to bubble out of her. In the end, she couldn't help applauding him for his ability to distort the truth.

It seemed to be true that if a person was shameless enough, they could be invincible in the world.

But Pauline wanted nothing to do with such a person. She had already wasted enough of her breath on such lowlifes.

"Hedy, let's go." She grabbed Hedy's hand and started to walk.

But her path was once again blocked, this time by Peter's parents, Jackson Gu and Katherine Ding. "Don't go, Pauline. The wedding isn't over yet. Our family has spent so much money on this ceremony, so we won't allow it to be in vain," Jackson Gu said gruffly.

It seemed that all the three members of the Gu family were equally shameless.

Instead of bothering to respond to them, Pauline tried to sidestep them, but they stood their ground.

Suddenly, Jackson Gu's phone rang. A few seconds after he answered the phone, the expression on his face changed and he broke into a cold sweat.

"Son, did you do anything to offend Mr. Lu? He's going to acquire the whole Gu Group," he said, walking over to Peter in a hurry.

For a moment, Peter was confused. It was not the first time that he had offended Edmund. Why had Edmund chosen to announce the acquisition of the Gu Group today?

But then, he realized that Edmund must want to stand up for Pauline.

His face soured as he pointed at Pauline and said, "Dad, why don't you ask your pure daughter-in-law?"

"Why are you bringing Pauline into this?" Hedy snapped. She defended Pauline as if she was protecting her own child. "You are the one who made a mistake. How dare you blame Pauline? Shame on you, Peter Gu!"

"You—" Before he could reply,

however, a new voice loudly echoed through the hall, getting everybody's attention.

"I'm so ashamed that I haven't given you a gift after our marriage. I don't know what you like, so I decided to surprise you with the Gu Group. Do you like this gift, Mrs. Pauline Lu?"

While everyone was arguing among themselves on stage, the video on the screen had been silently changed. Edmund's face, which was usually cold and indifferent, now looked affectionate on the screen as he publicly expressed his love for Pauline.

His words were immediately followed by an uproar in the hall. All the guests whispered excitedly among themselves.

"Oh my God, when did Edmund Half-city Gu get married?"

"Why do you call him Edmund Half-city Gu?"

"Don't you know? Half of the properties and companies in NZ City is controlled by him, so he is known as Edmund Half-city Gu."

"Wow, this is so romantic.

I wish I could marry him!"

"It seems that he has played this video on all the LED screens in NZ City! He must love her so much."

Some of the women dreamily looked up at the screen, feeling upset that they couldn't be in Pauline's shoes. As for Pauline, she was frozen in place, staring at the screen in shock.

Just last night, Edmund had been furious at her. In fact, she had thought that he would never be willing to see her again. But now, he had confessed his love for her in public, and even revealed to everyone that they were married.

It just didn't make sense to her. She really couldn't understand what he was thinking.

Until now, she had always thought that Edmund never wanted others to know about their relationship.

She had thought that he had just married her on a whim, akin to buying a souvenir and bringing it home. It had never occurred to her that she held such a significant place in his heart.

A group of people in black suits appeared in the hall all of a sudden, and Edmund, who was walking in the center, was particularly conspicuous.

Then, everything seemed to happen in slow motion in Pauline's eyes.

She saw Edmund firmly walk towards her step by step, as if he was the bridegroom today.

Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Peter raise his hand like an angry lion, ready to hit her.

She closed her eyes subconsciously, but the expected pain did not come.

A moment later, she cautiously opened one eye and saw a broad back next to her, blocking her from Peter's slap.

"If I were you, I would have knelt down and begged her. Maybe the Gu Group would have had a chance of survival then.

But what did you do? How dare you try to slap her? No wonder the Song Group is getting worse and worse in your hands."

Edmund shoved Peter back with such force that the latter staggered and almost fell. Fortunately, Tiffany held him up.

Edmund turned around and held his hand out to Pauline. "This place is too dirty for us to have our wedding ceremony in."

Pauline put her hand in his palm without hesitation, feeling like she was bewitched.

Edmund had put her under a spell with his deep and pleasant voice and his affectionate confession.

Therefore, no matter where he was going to take her, she would willingly go, even if it was to the very ends of the earth.

"Pauline, please ask Mr. Lu to let go of the Gu family."

All of a sudden, Peter knelt down and desperately held Pauline's leg as Edmund had suggested. He was like a drowning man who had grasped a life-saving straw.

Looking at the pathetic look on his face, Pauline felt a little annoyed.

She bent down slightly and pried his fingers off her leg one by one. She said coldly, "I'm sorry, Mr. Gu. I can't help you. I can't change Mr. Lu's decision."

She lifted the hemline of her dress and stepped forward to get off the stage, but Edmund stopped her.

"Do you like the gift?" he whispered, lowering his head slightly. His warm breath tickled her ear, sending a rush of happiness down her spine.

"Yes," she answered at once, nodding heavily.

How could she not like it?

It was not until today that she had realized how satisfactory it was to take revenge on a person she hated.

"Where are we going?" she asked, raising her head.

Edmund chuckled in response. "You'll know when we get there."
