Seeing that Susie suddenly came into the room, Raymond had no time to calm himself down and hide his sadness on the face. He could only reluctantly sit up straight to hide his true feelings.

Judging from his facial expression, Susie knew that Colin didn't have a good talk with him just now. There must be something between then that hadn't been reached as an agreement yet. So she could guess what Colin was going to talk to her later.

"I cooked some porridge for you. There is nothing delicious in my house. Just make do with it." Susie said to him while putting down the bowl on the bedside table.

"I used to eat something simpler. It's nothing. For me, this is the most delicious food in the world."

Raymond did tell the truth. He had been in prison for ten years. Although the food in prison was not bad, it was the most inhuman. How could it be compared with the food cooked by the one he loved?

"Have your breakfast then. I'm going out."

Then Susie went out with Colin. With Colin's suggestion, they didn't stay in the living room but went to the rooftop of the building upstairs.

It was already very cold as it was the early winter. The wind was blowing fiercely on the rooftop, making them feel almost frozen.

Susie tightened the collars of her clothes. She almost felt like jumping for warmth in such a freezing morning. She asked, "What are you going to talk to me?"

Colin, standing beside her, lit a cigarette and exhaled the smoke slowly. Then he looked at her and said, "I need you to persuade Raymond. He wants to take a dead end now."

Susie couldn't understand. "What do you mean? I don't understand. Make it clear."

"Yesterday's gunshot was only a warning to him. The person behind it just wanted to tell him that even if he is far away from where they are and their power might not reach, he still couldn't escape the eyes of the family. The old man is always watching him. Now Raymond wants to leave that family, though it's not the right time yet. But he didn't listen to me no matter how I tried to reason with him."

Susie seemed to understand that it was Raymond's family who

ur own way. If you really want me to say something, I have to say, live well for the sake of Nat. After all, in Nat's heart, you are still very important as her father."

"What about you? Don't you feel anything? Even if I may die." Raymond looked at her eyes and asked with expectant.

"If Nat doesn't know that you are her father, I think your death is the best thing for me! Because in this way, I can take revenge without any expense! How do you think I should guide you to make the decision?" Susie answered calmly. There was no expression on her face.

Raymond frowned. Obviously that was not the answer he had expected. During these two days, he could tell that Susie was still in love with him based on her anxiety and care when taking care of him. He had thought Susie finally would be willing to go back to him. It seemed that he was totally wrong. She was still that stubborn little woman who would never let go of the hatred in her heard. With a slight struggle, Susie broke free from his arms.

"You'd better have a good rest. Leave my house as soon as you have recovered."

Raymond stood there watching Susie's receding figure. He clenched his fists and finally loosened them.

It was useless for him to say anything to her now. Susie should have no other feelings for him except hatred in her heart. He shouldn't have imagined that he could still get any warmth or response to love from her.
