Derek seemed to be frightened by Jennifer's actions. He stiffened, turned around, and stared at her in confusion.

Did she know what she was doing?

Noticing Derek's gaze, Jennifer gently smiled at him and then turned to look at Ryan with a sneer. "I'm dirty? Ryan, have you just met me today? You do know what reputation I have in F City? Do you need me to tell you again?"

With a mocking look on her face, Jennifer continued, "Our relationship is nothing but a deal. It's none of your business what kind of person I am and what kind of man I want to hook up with. Didn't you say that you're disgusted to be my husband? Why are you so angry now? Are you jealous? Don't worry. I may have nothing else, but I have self-worth."

By her words, Jennifer meant to tell Ryan that she knew exactly where she stood in his heart.

A smile lingered on Jennifer's face. Despite the bitterness in her heart, she forced herself to appear fine.

Only Derek had an inkling of how upset she was when her grip on his hand tightened.

After hearing what Jennifer said, Ryan's face became increasingly cold. He looked at her coolly and said, "I'm jealous? Do you think you deserve it?"

"I know I don't deserve it, and I tried my best to behave myself and not taint your eyes. What else do you want me to do? Ryan, don't go too far." Jennifer stared at Ryan as she emphasized each word.

The words were like a sledgehammer striking Ryan's heart.

Ryan's face started to become extremely gloomy, but then a touch of cruelty crept into his eyes. He turned his eyes from Jennifer indifferently and, without a word, started the car and drove away while Jennifer and Derek looked on.

Jennifer's fierce bravado suddenly crumbled once Ryan left, and all of her pent-up emotions came rushing out.

She weakly leaned against Derek, her eyes burning. Unable to bear her despair any longer, she turned her head and buried her face against Derek's chest, tears silently falling from her eyes.

Derek saw Jennifer's exhausted movements, her angrily heaving chest as she confronted Ryan, and finally her shivering form as she wept within the circle of his arms. He felt her tears seep through the fabric of his clothes, and each drop ignited an unpleasant feeling in his heart.

He knew that the woman in his arms was crying because of another man, but he didn't say anything. He could only watch her silently and share her sadness.

Derek opened his mouth to speak but then decided against it. After hesitating for a long time, he raised his hand and tenderly patted her on the back to calm her down.

The relationship between Ryan and Jennifer should have considerably thawed by now. However, with this quarrel, they seemed to have gone back to the freezing point. They had begun treating each other like strangers, just like before. Jason felt helpless at the situation.

After spending some time lost in thought, Jason finally decided to help the two of them.

Under Jason's watchful gaze these days, Jennifer didn't seem to be as horrible as rumors had painted her to be. Besides, his grandson's prejudice against her certainly made things worse. Jason thought that maybe he should have a place created where they could be alone, just the two of them. Maybe then, Ryan would have the chance to understand Jennifer.

After a discussion with Shemar, Jason summoned Ryan and Jennifer back to the old mansion.

The atmosphere between the couple was cold as they headed to the mansion. Even in front of the two elders, they still didn't talk to each other.

Looking at the two of them, Jason sighed helplessly. "I called you two here today to tell you something."

As he spok

e, Jason glanced at Shemar and then laid two plane tickets in front of the two.

Ryan's eyes narrowed with displeasure.

On her end, Jennifer looked at them in shock and confusion.

'What does this mean?' she wondered.

Jason cleared his throat and said, "Ryan, it has been more than half a month since you took over the Gu Group. You and Jennifer have been married for nearly a month. Now that almost everything is in order, you shouldn't forego the honeymoon trip that you owe Jennifer. You are young and newly married. I think it's a good idea for you to get away to cultivate your relationship."

Upon hearing these words, Ryan sneered and refused without hesitation. "Grandpa, I just took over the group, there are a lot of matters that require my attention. I don't have the time to travel."

Jason frowned slightly at his adamant refusal.

He looked at Jennifer and asked, "What about you, Jennifer? What do you think?"

Jennifer was taken aback. She didn't expect that Jason would solicit her opinion on the matter after Ryan had already refused his suggestion. After a moment, she glanced at Ryan, directly ignored the warning in his eyes, and said with a smile, "I agree with you, Grandpa. I think that what you said was reasonable. We had gotten married not too long ago, and we really need some quality time together for our relationship to develop. Grandpa, thank you for being so considerate of us and for arranging everything."

She knew she shouldn't say it, but she still said this on purpose.

With a big smile on her face, Jennifer picked up the ticket on the table and looked at it carefully. She glanced at Ryan, whose face was livid and eyes were flashing with an unspoken warning.

The more he didn't want to do, the more Jennifer wanted to reel him in.

This time, Jennifer found Jason's arrangement to be perfectly suited to her taste.

Ryan deserved it!

Ryan's eyes went cold as he met Jennifer's aggressive look. "I don't have time."

It was impossible for him to travel with Jennifer.

Before Jason's expression could change at Ryan's words, Jennifer quipped, "Do you really think that I want to go with you? I just don't want to disappoint Grandpa. Of course, it doesn't matter if you don't want to go. I believe that quite a number of people would want to go with me. However, I can't assure you that I won't be photographed by the media with another man. Wouldn't that be a blow to your image, Mr. Ryan Gu?

Well, what would you want as a news headline? 'The Newly Married Wife of the CEO of the Gu Group Goes on a Trip with Another Man'? Or maybe: 'The Marriage Secret of the Rich and Influential'? Grandpa, what do you think? Which title is more eye-catching?"

Jennifer turned to Jason and asked with a serious expression on her face.

At Jennifer's words, Ryan's face froze. This woman's shamelessness was unmatched. He knew that she was deliberately baiting him, but he couldn't help his disgust.

Jason understood what Jennifer meant. He said coldly, "That wouldn't do. As the daughter-in-law of the Gu Family, of course Ryan will accompany you. The media will only report how affectionate the two of you are. Ry, Jennifer wants you to go, so you should go with her. The company's affairs could wait—there's no rush. That's it, then...go back and pack your bags."

Not allowing any retort from Ryan, Jason left with Shemar after announcing his decision.

Ryan remained frozen in his seat, his eyes burning with hatred, like he wanted to tear Jennifer to shreds.

With a smile on her face, Jennifer calmly looked at the angry man and then walked out of the Gu Family residence in a lighthearted mood.
