Jonny shook his head in annoyance. It turned out that Moore was a nerd, just like Jacob.

"But..." he trailed off with a sigh and rolled his eyes.

The truth was, he wasn't interested in socializing with these so-called elite people at all. He was not a woman. It would only be troublesome for him if one of them fell in love with him at the ball.

'But wait... if the chip is embedded in the invitation card, it's only important for the invitation card to be at the party, right? I don't have to be physically there.

Nobody will know who is under the mask...'

Thinking of that, he chuckled and suddenly stood up.

"Well, in that case, I'll go. I'm heading home for dinner now. I can go to the party on my own tomorrow night," he said lightly, patting his agent's hand before walking away.

"You have to go, Mr. Nalan!" The agent wasn't fast enough to catch up with him, so she could only shout behind him in vain.

Jonny just waved his hand without looking back and soon disappeared out of the building.

It wasn't rush hour and there were barely any cars on the road, so he drove fast and arrived home in no time.

Donna was still busy cooking in the kitchen, so Nancy was the only one in the living room.

She was sitting there, staring blankly at a plastic jar of goldfish.

"Are you bored?" A voice suddenly appeared beside her ear.

She screamed, and her hands involuntarily shot up in fear, sending the small open jar flying in the air.

She squeezed her eyes shut, and flinched as she heard the sound of the jar hitting the floor with a thud.

"Nancy," a familiar voice growled behind her.

Shocked, she opened her eyes and turned around to see Jonny.

"Ah... Jonny... I didn't expect to see you," she stammered, wringing her hands nervously.

Jonny narrowed his eyes. "Who else did you expect to see?"

Hearing the loud noise, Donna also came out of the kitchen.

"Oh my God!" She couldn't help but burst out into laughter. When her son turned his head and glanced at her unhappily, she laughed even harder.

Now that the initial shock was gone, Nancy began laughing, too. "Jonny, you should see yourself in the mirror now!" she guffawed.

Through the tears of laughter in her eyes, she could see how peeved her brother was.

Of course he was peeved.

The contents of the jar that had flown out of her hands had ended up splashing all over his head.

A few goldfish were jiggling around on his styled hair, and waterweeds hung around his ears.

Perhaps because of his good looks, he still looked really stylish, as if he was in some bizarre photoshoot. However, the little fish jumping above his head turned the whole scene into comedic gold.

Nancy quickly came back to her senses and jumped to her feet.

Without water, the fish would die soon.

She scrambled around the table for a new container. Grabbing an empty pot that her mother usually used for soup, she filled it with water. Then, she plucked the fish and waterweeds from Jonny's head and put them into the pot. "Fishies, make do with this for now. I'll get you a bigger and more beautiful home soon. Don't be afraid... It's true that Mom has cooked fish soup in this pot before, but she doesn't like you guys as cooking ingredients, so you are safe," she said cheerfully, looking at the fish swimming around in the pot.

The whole time, Jonny stared pointedly at his younger sister, who had gone back to ignoring him.

Wiping the fishy water off his face, he said snidely, "Nancy, what's wrong with you? Why can't you get a dog like normal people? A dog will at least bark when you talk to it. Fish won't even give you a second look."

In fact, he was annoyed that his hair style had been destroyed. Bringing his fingers up to his nose, he cringed and thought, 'Plus, a dog wouldn't make me smell bad at least!'

Seeing the displeasure on his face, Nancy hurriedly grabbed a cloth and wiped his hair. "Jonny, don't be angry... I'm still waiting to hear back from the company. It's been a few days since the interview, but I haven't gotten the result yet," she said pitifully.

Jonny irritably grabbed the cloth in her hand and began wiping his hair by himself.

However, the smell coming off him only seemed to worsen.

He subconsciously held the cloth to his nose and took a whiff. His face darkened. "Nancy, is this a used cloth?"

At that moment, Donna walked out of the kitchen and looked around for something. "Nancy, did you see my rag? I was wiping the floor with it just now..."

Jonny and Nancy looked at the cloth in his hand at the same time.

Swallowing hard, Nancy pointed at it and said, "Um... Mom... Is that the one you're talking about?"

Donna grabbed the cloth from Jonny's hand cheerfully. "Thank God! I only wiped the floor halfway, and I couldn't find the rag anywhere."

Jonny looked between his mother and his sister in disbelief.

'Do I have to have dinner at this house?'

The rag used to wipe the floor had just touched his beautiful hair...

Meanwhile, Donna glanced at the table and murmured to herself, "Oh, there's the pot I was looking for! Why is it here..." Then, she grabbed it and carried it back into the kitchen.

Nancy, who had her back to her mother, handed a piece of tissue to her brother.

Jonny decided to forget what he had seen just now. He just wanted to focus on the reason he had come home today.

Wiping the water off his face, he casually said, "Nancy, you're bored at home, right? How about I show you a nice place to have fun tomorrow night?"

"No," Nancy said immediately, lowering her voice. "Dad said you would try to make me join the entertainment circle. I... I can't..."

"Don't you think you're dreaming?" Jonny said with a snort. "You don't look like me at all. If you become an actress, your company will lose a lot of money."

Nancy sniffed in displeasure. "What are you talking about? It's not like I'm ugly."

He chuckled and said, "It's okay if you're ugly, but you're very stupid..."

It was as if their parents had given all t

heir brain cells to their three sons, so by the time they had their daughter, they had nothing left to give her. She was so stupid that she almost had no voice at home.

Of course, York and Jacob loved her very much. Donna, on the other hand, doted on her sons more. As people said, fathers favored their daughters while mothers favored their sons.

Hearing Jonny's comment, Nancy turned gloomy. Of course, she was used to hearing such snide remarks from her brothers, so she didn't take it seriously. Trying to hold back his laughter, Jonny continued, "I've been invited to a costume ball tomorrow night, but I already have something on my schedule. Can you go on my behalf instead? I've already prepared a costume for you. You can use this opportunity to make new friends."

Nancy's eyes lit up, and she seemed to forget her brother's insults just now. "Really?"

"Of course. It will be a fun party. All the guests who are coming will be young. Maybe you can meet a prince charming and marry him," Jonny said with a snicker.

"Brother!" Nancy stamped her feet shyly. "Well, what am I going to wear?"

"Don't worry about that. Tomorrow, my assistant will come bring you the costume, including a mask and some jewelry. How does that sound?"

"Sounds good. I'm bored at home anyway."

Jonny took out the invitation card and handed it to her. "That's why I asked you. Have a good time there. I'll ask the driver to escort you there and back home. The party is being held in a huge mansion."

Now that he had finished his task, he was in a good mood.

However, while they were having dinner, his lips turned into a frown. His mother's soup tasted a little strange.

"Mom, what's in this?" he asked doubtfully. The rag incident had made him lose confidence in his mother.

"What? Chicken and mushroom, as usual," Donna replied casually.

Out of curiosity, Jacob leaned over and scooped up the soup from the pot.

There was a little goldfish lying inside.

Looking at it calmly, he asked, "And the goldfish...?"

Nancy dropped her spoon and shrieked, "Mom, how can you put my goldfish in the soup?"

York, too, nervously dipped his chopsticks into his bowl of soup and fished out a waterweed.

Nancy's eyes darted over everyone's bowl of soup before filling with tears. "Mom, you cooked them all..."

Donna scratched her head in confusion. She didn't understand how the goldfish had gotten into her pot.

Jonny pursed his lips and pushed his bowl of soup away from himself. "Okay, I'm done. Nancy, my assistant will bring you the clothes tomorrow morning. Get ready by 7 p.m. sharp, and my driver will pick you up then."

Nancy nodded repeatedly.

Before she could change her mind, Jonny quickly fled the house.

However, Jacob frowned and looked intently at his sister. "Where is he sending you tomorrow?"

"To a costume ball," Nancy replied casually.

"No way!" York interjected, slamming his chopsticks down on the table. "Is that a place for respectable girls?"

Nancy bit her lower lip and looked at her father plaintively. "But... It's so boring to stay at home all day long. I don't even have a job yet! I at least want some friends to hang out with. Besides, Jonny is sending his driver to pick me up and drop me back home."

She had never been to a costume ball before, so she was really excited to go. Besides, she was no longer a primary school student, but a 24-year-old university graduate. Did her father want her to just stay at home and feed the fish all day long?

"God knows who you'll meet there. Don't go," York said firmly.

Richard casually scooped more of the side dishes into his bowl and continued to eat, as if what was happening at the dinner table had nothing to do with him.

Looking at the aggrieved expression on his younger sister's face, Jacob sighed. "Do you really want to go there?"

Nancy looked up at him and nodded with reddened eyes.

"Then I'll go with you," he replied, putting down his chopsticks. "I'm free tomorrow night, Dad. I'll go with her," he confirmed, turning to his dad.

York's tense expression relaxed a little. "Can you guarantee her safety?"

Jacob nodded confidently.

"Okay," York agreed.

"Yay! Thanks, Dad," Nancy said cheerfully, beaming.

She had already forgotten all about the sad fate of her goldfish.

'What a simple girl. She's so easily satisfied, '

Jacob thought to himself with a faint smile.

He turned around and saw his expression mirrored on Richard's face.

"If I were you, I would find a quiet corner to drink in tomorrow night and ignore everything," the latter whispered.

Jacob frowned, not understanding what he meant at all.

Richard curled his lips and explained, "Whatever party Jonny is invited to, there'll be a lot of rich men there. If Nancy hooks up with one of them, Dad won't look so sour."

Jacob shot him a glare.

Richard lifted his arms and stretched. With a heavy sigh, he said, "Yeah, yeah, you and your holier-than-thou attitude." Then, he put down his chopsticks and announced, "I have to go for the evening class." After that, he wiped his lips with a napkin and left the dining table.

Jacob stayed silent and shook his head in disapproval.

He didn't know the kind of antics Richard would get into if he didn't guide him well.

The next day, when Jacob got into the car sent by Jonny, he was stunned by his sister's appearance.

"Why are you dressed like this?" he asked crossly. Without hesitation, he took off his coat and threw it over her shoulders. "Put it on. How did Dad let you go out like this?"

Nancy puckered her lips and casually put the coat aside. "He didn't see. Anyway, I think this costume looks great," she said happily. Then, putting the mask onto her face, she asked, "What do you think? Do I look like Snow White?"

"You looked like an idiot," Jacob grumbled, showing no mercy.

"You're so mean!" she complained, shoving him. "You're coming to the ball too, right? What's your costume?"

He took out a plain mask and put it on his face.
