'What about us?'

Henry asked jokingly.

He knew it was impossible, so he plucked up the courage to say so.

He would accept it if something happened.

Nancy closed the door and looked back at him.

"Henry, could I help wash your hair?" she said.

Henry didn't expect that. He was a little surprised and thought she would say one or two funny words and then fall asleep.

"I know you are a fanatic for cleanliness. I heard from the nurse that you don't even need them to clean your body," Nancy said firmly, "I'll wash it for you."

"Okay." Henry nodded.

There was nothing in the shabby hotel.

Henry was helped to sit down on the chair. Nancy wrapped the bath towel around his neck, stood behind him and washed his hair.

The two of them didn't say anything and quietly listened to the sound of thunder and rain outside.

"Do you remember?" Henry asked.

"It was a rainy night. You escaped successfully and I went to pick you up."

Henry seemed to see the scene through the glass in front of him.

"What's wrong?" Nancy said, "at that time, you told me that you were on vacation and happened to play there, so the headquarters handed over the task to you."

Henry shook his head.

"I begged for it, so I got the chance. In order to pick you up, I was absent from work in the hospital, and my bonus for the whole year was gone."

When he said this, there was a happy expression on his face.

It was like a child eating candies and felt amazed.

He continued, "in order to be closer to you, I played a trick and didn't bring you shoes. You didn't say anything at that time, but you must be cursing me in your heart."

"No," said Nancy.

Actually she never did that.

She was flustered when she broke the prison last time. She couldn't be sure of that kind of thing.

She pretended to be calm, and others couldn't see it.

It rained heavily, lightning flashed and thunder rumbled.

She had an odd sense of déjà vu just as he said that.

If she didn't see Henry that day and didn't eat the hot food he had prepared in advance, she would still be a homeless person and didn't know where to go. And misfortune would fall on her at any time.

"I was glad that you're there to pick me up," said

whole room.

Henry sat in front of the mirror and Nancy was drying his hair.

In the mirror, he looked very gentle. He thought he had no regrets for the rest of his life.

"Because I strongly opposed her investigation, she didn't tell me anything in the end," Henry said, "I only know that Metis has medical connections. Lily only told me in English that she didn't expect it to be her. I think she is a woman."

"Why didn't you tell me this earlier?" said Nancy.

"You didn't ask me before." Henry looked at her from the mirror and saw her drying his hair attentively. "What's the use of knowing these? Isn't it better not to know?"

There were a few more muffled thunder.

The rain became ease and fell on the window.

"You are not the one who is manipulated. You won't understand," said Nancy.

'It doesn't matter if you are manipulated. You know that he won't hurt you and won't let you push you into danger. Isn't that enough?'

Henry didn't speak out what he was thinking.

"All right!" Nancy took the comb and did Henry's hair. She stared at the man in the mirror and said, "you are clean and handsome."

'You are clean.'

Hearing these three words, Henry smiled knowingly. In a dark place in his heart, there was a voice whispering, "What should I do if I don't deserve these three words?"

When Nancy didn't nod, he looked forward to her nodding, as if he was betting with himself.

But now, with Nancy by his side, he had an inexplicable panic, afraid of losing her.
