"The marriage license..."

Fiona murmured to herself, balling her hands into fists.

She was only 20 years old. Getting married was the last thing on her mind.

As she was gently pulled into the car by the man, her nose was instantly filled with his scent—light yet familiar.

Either way, this wasn't the time to dwell on such things. Eventually, she woke up from a daze, a blank look plastered across her face.

She chewed her lower lip as she cast a glance at the man sitting upright next to her.

Eyes closed, she plucked up her courage and said, "Is there any way that I can postpone getting the marriage license? I'm not prepared yet."

While she had agreed to the marriage, she still didn't want to get married so soon. She was about to be taken to the Civil Affairs Bureau.

Everything was happening so quickly.

Oh God! Could she still say no?

Jeremy frowned and asked doubtfully, "What kind of preparations do you need?"

The two sat in the car along with the driver, Jack. Her sweet fragrance lingered in Jeremy's nose.

Then, without warning, he casually took out a household register and waved it to her face. "The Ling family was kind enough to give this to me. You've been sold."

Fiona felt her chest tighten as she lowered her head, recalling the wicked look on Melissa's face before she left. Melissa was so eager to kick her out of the Ling family.

She was still in disbelief.

Despite this, she had to accept that the situation was what it was.

Suddenly finding it difficult to breathe, she looked out the window. A bottle of water was handed to her. "Here. Have some water. Don't be nervous."

"Please, I don't want to get married." She was on the verge of a nervous breakdown.

"There's nothing I can do." They must get married.

The car stopped at the gate of the Civil Affairs Bureau. Jack got off and opened the door for them.

Fiona felt as if she had been trapped. She did not want to get out of the car. She opened her mouth as a look of despair registered on her face. She bit her lip uneasily. "I'm nervous," she muttered.

"Don't worry. It will be over before you know it,"

Jeremy said anxiously. To him, the Civil Affairs Bureau was also a sacred place.

He dragged her out of the car and whispered, "You don't want the money anymore? Do you think you can get away unscathed if you leave now?"

"But I'm going to marry Mr. Caspar. I heard that he..."

He was disabled and his two previous

fiancees had strangely died. In fear, she didn't want to be the third one. She broke out into a cold sweat.

"He's a disabled man who can't satisfy you?" Jeremy chuckled as he narrowed his eyes.

He was obviously mocking her. Needless to say, Fiona was irked. He was still unwilling to help her. Not wanting to waste time on him anymore, she merely shut her mouth.

With the way things had turned out, she became a replacement with no room for resistance.

She froze as a wave of complicated emotions surged in her chest.

"I have to deal with something. Bring her back to the villa," Jeremy instructed Jack.

Things were unfolding so rapidly. Since she had gotten the marriage license, did this mean that she had to sleep with Caspar tonight? The more she thought about it, the more frightened she grew.

After Fiona was dropped off at a villa in the suburbs, a servant immediately approached her. With much enthusiasm, she said, "My Lady, you seem to be in great shape. Starting today, I'll be the one taking care of you."

Since Fiona was wearing a mask, Ella Yu couldn't see her face, so she could only praise her figure.

Ella Yu was in her early twenties and she was a smart girl.

"Where's my room? I want to rest." Fiona needed to calm down and figure out a way to get rescued by someone.

Ella Yu's face turned red upon hearing this, thinking that Fiona didn't seem to be in the business of wasting time. She quickly recovered and said without hesitation, "Let me take you there."

She led Fiona to the bedroom. When she opened the door, she noticed Fiona immediately flushing at the sight of the red quilt and red roses on the quilt. With that, she quietly left.

Fiona stood in the empty room, looking around.

Exhausted, she lay on the bed in an attempt to get some rest. But before that, she took her phone out and decided to give Rita a call first.

The phone rang and rang but it wasn't picked up. She had very few friends and Rita was the only one person she could talk to.

She thought to herself, 'Why isn't she answering? Hurry up and answer!'

She kept calling her, only to end up being disappointed. She leaned against the headboard, gradually falling asleep.

"So heavy."

Immersed in the darkness, she felt her chest constricted. She opened her eyes warily, only to find Jeremy pressing against her.

A mixture of shock and embarrassment overcame her. What was he doing? She was his sister-in-law!
