"If you don't want your friend to know what happened that night, you better ask her to wait outside,"

he whispered casually into her ear. Angela didn't know if it was because of the memories of that night, but her heart suddenly started beating quickly.

The truth was that she had just broken up with her ex-boyfriend, and intimate behavior was not uncommon to her. But right then, her heart was racing as if she was in love for the first time. This feeling was very strange to her.

Edward sat up and played with his phone like nothing had happened.

Hilda could only wonder what he told her when she saw her face blush. Angela then said timidly, "Well, Hilda... Could you please wait for me outside?"

Of course, Hilda wasn't about to agree. But suddenly, her phone buzzed with a message from Lucas. It read, "Mr. Edward is willing to lend you the money you need to start a business. But if you don't arrive at the designated meeting place by 11 a.m., we would assume that you're voluntarily passing up on this opportunity."

It was obvious that Edward was doing this to get her out of the way!

But although she was curious about them, setting up her own company was more important to her.

Without saying anything else, Hilda stood up and said, "Okay! I'll be outside while you have a good chat."

As soon as she went out, Edward stood up and locked the door behind her.

This made Angela shocked and flustered.

'Did he really just lock the door? Why would he do that?' she wondered.

Edward's lips were pursed as he slowly walked towards her.

Thinking of that night and his words just then, Angela raised her guard and unconsciously pulled up her collar.

These little gestures did not escape his notice.

Did she really think that he was so sex-starved that he would sleep with whichever woman? If he had not been drugged that night, how could he have slept with her? 'This woman overthinks everything!' he thought to himself.

As soon as he sat down beside her, he took out the necklace and handed it over. "I found it in the backyard."

"You..." She wanted to ask why he didn't take out the necklace during the party last night or just now when Hilda was in the room to prove her innocence.

As if sensing her thoughts, he explained, "I didn't find it until after you left."

Even Edward felt confused about what he said. Why did he feel like he had to explain himself?

Angela thought for a second and wondered if the necklace had dropped when she almost fell down and was pulled up by him.

But regardless of what had happened, he had found the necklace and she was no longer in trouble.

"Do you doubt me?" It was the only reason Edward could think of as to why she wasn't speaking.

"I just don't understand why you didn't show it to Hilda."

He looked at her and said with all seriousness, "Because what matters is not the necklace, but this subsequent negotiation."

Negotiation? What kind of negotiation was he talking about?

He took out a document and put it in front of her. "What happened that night was not my intention, but it hurt you anyway. If you sign this agreement, I will compensate for everything. Name your price."

Edward never liked owing anyone for anything.

Angela glanced at the document. A part read, "I admit that I accidentally went into Edward Yan's room and the two of us had no choice but to have sex. Before having sex, I promised not to hold him accountable for the consequences of the act, and I will fulfill this promise for the rest of my life."

'I promised?' she thought. She had done that only because she was drugged and had no other choice but to have sex with him. But the reason why they really had sex was because he was drugged later. This was absurd!

"Don't you think you're being shameless? I might have entered your room that night, but I only had sex with you because you were drugged, okay? And if that was because I was drugged, of course I would not hold you liable for anything!" In fact, after she was drugged, she had been doused with cold water by him. And she had no intention of calling him to account for that.

Angela was so angry that she couldn't help but roll out her eyes

. Edward thought she looked quite lovely when she did this.

Today, she was wearing a long-sleeved black dress, which rendered her neck slender. She looked fair and very elegant. The events of that fateful night flashed through Edward's mind, which made him tremble.

"Besides, you've been badgering me since the beginning. When did I give off the impression that I was out to blackmail you? Aren't you worrying too much?" Angela added impatiently. Dismissing him as a child trapped in a man's body, she took the necklace and stood up to leave.

Lost in thought, Edward did not even hear what she said. But when he saw her stood up, he immediately pulled her back to her chair. He put one hand on the table and the other on the back of her seat, effectively trapping her.

He looked even more handsome in his custom-made suit. The sunlight outside the window outlined his impeccable features, highlighting his intense visage.

He bent over, his face gradually nearing hers. Angela could only lean back to avoid him. But he got closer and closer to her, and she felt his breath warm against her face and her heart started beating wildly.

"What...What are you doing?"

Her pink lips parted slightly, reminding Edward of that night's tenderness.

This woman was not overly beautiful, but it was her temperament that made her elegant, smart, impish, and lovely all at once. He had to admit that she was seductive in a way that he could not resist.

His Adam's apple bobbed down his throat as he swallowed. He raised his hand and touched her face.

As soon as his hand met her cheek, Angela felt as if an electric shock passed through her entire body. But as she still kept her senses, she nervously tried to push him away.

She panicked and wanted to run, but he merely pulled her back and pressed her against the wall.

Pain spread on her back as it hit the hard concrete.

Angela winced in pain, "You..."

Gripping her wrists, Edward looked into her eyes and said, "I don't mind changing the agreement. Be my girlfriend in the next three months..."

'Girlfriend? He wants me to be his girlfriend?

We merely slept together that one night. How could he possibly want me as a girlfriend? Wait! Three months?

Does he want a mistress?'

Seeing the displeasure on her face, Edward quickly added, "You can set your price. How about it?"

Angela was fuming with rage as she tried her best not to curse.

Edward gave a tempting smile and continued, "Or... I can give you a house, so that you won't have to cook for others just to rent."

It was this that eventually set off her temper. She forcefully pushed him away and shouted through gritted teeth, "Get away from me!"

Rejection wasn't something that Edward was used to. How could she refuse him?

"Let me make this clear for you! I don't mind cooking for others. For as long as I cook for myself, I might as well cook for my roommate!"

At the time she lived with Christa, she would usually cook for her as well.

Angela had taken two steps to leave when she stopped and turned back to him. After taking out her pen, she quickly signed the agreement. "You can rest now! I will never hold you accountable for anything! So please, don't appear in front of me ever again!"

Edward sat on the chair very irritably as he watched her open the door and leave. Feeling very uncomfortable, he undid the top two buttons of his shirt.

Once he had calmed down, he realized that his impulse just then made him completely lose his reason. This had never happened to him before!

But at this point, the images of that night, the pitiful look she had when she was imprisoned under his body, the noises she made as she tried to escape his grip, everything flashed back in his head. He admitted that his mother was right, that affairs between a man and a woman were always unexplainable.

He had no interest in women except for her. Was it because of what had happened between them? Or because it had been too long since he last had sex with a woman?

His throat suddenly felt dry and tight.

"Damn it!" He picked up his cup to drink tea but saw that it was empty.

Just as he was pouring some out, the door opened.
