Just like Miss Li had told, Anna only wanted to know if her son was into women or not. However, she couldn't entirely trust her words either. As Miss Li had mentioned, Edward was drugged, so there must have been someone sleeping with him as an antidote. Was he having sex with a man or a woman?

When Anna looked at her own hands, she shuddered at the thought.

Although her son was quite unusual, would he really use his own hands to please himself?

Unable to shake that thought off her mind, Anna trembled with fear. She did not want to believe that her son would rather masturbate than have sex with a woman.

She felt like she had to investigate the matter.

Meanwhile, Edward threw the suitcase into his car trunk and drove off to Glory City International Garden. His mother's words kept ringing in his head, reminding him of the previous night's events.

"Wasn't it amazing?" she had asked. Despite the complicated thoughts he had in mind, she was a very charming woman. How long had it been since he last had sex? Was it eight years? Or was it ten years? Edward had been busy and the last time he was with a woman must have been more than ten years ago. He wondered if that woman was doing well.

As his mind shifted from the events of last night to the memory of ten years ago, the smile on his face turned into a frown.

Angela got up early the next day and went to look for a house. She browsed through several apps until she stumbled upon an advertisement for a roommate. It was located in the popular neighborhood of Glory City International Garden. The place was only two stops away by bus from the company she worked for and it was priced at just eight hundred dollars, which seemed like a great deal to her. However, the landlord had mentioned that there were special requirements.

'I'm short of money now, so I'd better give them a call,' Angela thought to herself and dialed the phone number.

A young woman's sweet voice came from the other end of the line. "Hello."

"Hello, is this Miss Chen? I saw your ad on the Internet. Are you still looking for a roommate?" Angela inquired.

The woman openly asked in a polite voice, "Yes, I am. Can you cook?"

"I can cook some home-style food," Angela replied.

"It's hard for me to explain this over a phone call. Why don't you come see me today? I'm home now," the woman said.

Glory City International Garden was located in the heart of the town. Whoever lived there was either rich, or came from a noble family. After thinking for a while, Angela agreed, "Yes, it's important that we discuss this in person."

"I'll text you the detailed address. Why don't you give me a call once you get here? I'll ask the security to open the gate for you."

"All right, Miss Chen, thank you."

"See you later," the woman said cheerfully.

"Okay, bye!" Angela replied.

She then disconnected the call. Angela arrived at Room 1206, Building A6, Glory City International Garden thirty minutes later. She rang the doorbell and someone opened the door for her.

The woman who opened the door was young and pretty. She was dressed in a plaid skirt and a T-shirt, which enhanced her beauty. She had light makeup on and seemed pleasing. When she saw Angela, she eyed her from head to toe before she finally nodded and invited her in. "Please, come in. Take a seat. Would you like some coffee, or lemon tea, perhaps?"

"Lemon tea, thank you," Angela replied. She then sat down on the couch. Once the young woman was out of the room, Angela looked around.

The decor was very simple, yet elegant. The whole house was covered in shades of pink and white, which made it look warm.

The woman emerged from the kitchen, holding two cups of lemon tea on a tray. Angela was skeptical, and didn't dare to drink the hot tea.

The woman smiled and asked, "Can you cook?"

"I can do some home cooking except too difficult."

"Can you make curried potatoes?"

Angela frowned. She didn't want to lie or lose the opportunity. "I haven't done it before, but I can have a try."

But this was a roommate recruitment. Why did she ask about it?

The woman stroked her chin and thought for a while before she said, "You look fine enough and you be

have well, so I just want to know how well you can cook." Saying that, she walked to the bookshelf in the living room and grabbed a document from it. She then put the document on the table before Angela and said, "Here's the agreement. You can have a look at it and see if you can accept the terms."

With a confused expression, Angela picked up the agreement. It had three requirements.

"1. Clean the living room and the kitchen and take out the trash every day.

2. Prepare dinner for two for at least five days a week.

3. Don't bring any strangers into the house for overnight stays."

In addition, there were also other articles, which said that the tenant must know how to bake and that the landlord had every right to ask the tenant to move out at any time. All these rules seemed weird to Angela.

Although the odd rules seemed a little overwhelming, Angela didn't mind them. In fact, she was quite organized. She didn't like keeping the house messy, so she would always clean and take out the trash. Moreover, she also didn't prefer to eat takeout food, so she preferred to cook at home every day. Now, instead of cooking just for herself, she would be cooking for another person too.

Besides, it was a great deal and she didn't want to miss it. Even her office was so close from there. If she lived there, things would be just perfect for her!

"If you accept these terms, you can live here rent-free!" the woman said.

Upon hearing that, Angela was startled. She tried to suppress her shock, and looked at her. 'Are you kidding me? She's not even charging rent? This seems like a dream!

However... What if it's some kind of a trap? Although, she doesn't look like someone who would lie about this,' Angela thought to herself, while looking at the young woman. Besides, she had nothing to lose if she agreed.

Suddenly, her eyes fell upon the watch on the woman's wrist. It was a watch made in Switzerland, one that could easily fetch a hundred thousand dollars, if sold. If the young woman possessed something that expensive, then she probably didn't care about the eight hundred dollars' rent.

"However, we will try for a month to see if the arrangement works before signing the contract." The woman seemed smarter than she appeared to be.

Since Angela was in a rush to find an apartment, and seeing that the house was perfect, she said, "I'll accept these terms."

The woman immediately became happy and clapped her hands cheerfully. "That's great! It's half past eleven. Can you make some curried potatoes with chicken? I really want to try your food. If it's good, you will be my roommate!" she exclaimed, looking at her watch.

Without sulking, Angela began to cook. Since the ingredients were already prepped, it took her only twenty-seven minutes to make it, using the help of an online recipe.

"This is the first time I'm cooking this dish. I hope you like it," Angela said nervously. After all, it was that dish, which would determine if she could stay there or not.

The young woman ate the potato with a serious expression. Then suddenly, her face lit up and she said, "Oh, my God! Is this really the first time you're making this? This is more delicious than Kay's!"

Her genuine joy brought warmth to Angela's heart. She smiled and said, "Yes, it is my first time making this, I swear!"

She felt hopeful.

The woman didn't stop until she had nearly eaten half the dish. She then stretched her arms and said, "You're selected! My name is Hilda Chen, and we're roommates from now on."

Upon hearing that, Angela felt relieved and shook her hand. "I'm Angela Xu, it is so nice to meet you."

Worried that Angela might go back on her word, Hilda Chen immediately pushed the contract towards her and urged her to sign it. "Don't I at least need to pay the deposit?" Angela asked.

"There's no need for that! As long as you cook delicious meals for me every day, you don't have to pay a penny!" Hilda Chen was pleased that she didn't have to eat any more of the boring food outside. Home-cooked food always tasted heavenly.

'Does she really want me to cook for her every day?

And she is not charging any rent for that?' Angela frowned at the thought.
