"I will make breakfast for you." Rose said that as an excuse so she could leave the room.

Burke seemed disappointed. He thought for a while and said, "All right, but don't stay there for too long. Come back soon, okay?"

"I will," Rose replied with a shrug of resignation.

"Okay. "Remember to come back immediately," Burke reminded again before finally letting her go.

Rose went to the bathroom and breathed a sigh of relief. After washing up, she went downstairs only to find Burke's grandmother sitting in the living room. The old lady smiled upon seeing her.

Burke's grandmother was very happy when she heard that Burke arrived and slept in Rose's room last night. She was so delighted that she even gave the servants a bonus.

When Rose reached the living room, she asked in a concerned voice, "Rosy, why are you up so early?"

Rose knew that Burke's grandmother was teasing her, so her face flushed. She answered uncomfortably,

"I'll go jogging, Grandma." She then went out for a morning run to escape from Burke's grandmother's interrogation.

"Young people are really shy to admit their feelings," Burke's grandmother murmured with a smile as she watched Rose's receding back. With a stick in her hand, she turned to the housekeeper and said, "Help me go upstairs. I want to see my grandson."

Burke was already awake when his grandmother entered Rose's room.

It was only then that he realized that what happened last night was not a dream. Rose was really beside him until he woke up this morning.

Thinking that he spent the night with her made him feel energized.

"Grandma..." Burke greeted his grandmother. The usual cold and indifferent look on his face couldn't be seen now. Instead, it was replaced by a childish look.

"Finally, you came over to see your wife," Burke's grandmother commented as she sat on the couch. When she saw the trace of exhaustion on Burke's face, she felt a little distressed. But she pretended to scold him, "I thought that your mind has been totally muddled by that disreputable slut. And you have forgotten that you have a decent wife here."

"You are right, Grandma. I'm sorry," Burke replied. He respected his grandmother so much. So knowing that she was angry at him, he directly admitted his mistake, not intending to defend himself.

Burke's grandmother softened upon hearing his admission of guilt. She then asked, "How's the HT Estate Project going?"

"The public relations department is trying their best to suppress all the negative news about Gu Group. Right now, our main goal is to restructure the original plan. I don't want to give up this project." The look on Burke's face became stern.

His grandmother nodded. "Several senior shareholders and board of directors have come to see me these past few days. You have nothing to worry about them. I can assure you that you still have their full support. This storm will soon subside, so don't let the whole Gu Group be in a mess. Keep your focus. As the CEO, you should not waver. Always stand firm because many people are counting on you."

"Yes, Grandma." Burke nodded slightly but still knitted his eyebrows.

His grandmother stared at him. She couldn't help but sigh inwardly. He was still young, but he was already the CEO of a big company. Most rich men and women of his age were enjoying their lives. But here he was, facing so many problems in the company. His grandmother didn't want him to have this kind of life. However, no one else was qualified to take over the whole Gu Group except him.

"Burke, it's inevitable to fail. But remember that sometimes, failure is a fortune. Don't worry too much and take your time. It's just a piece of cake for you," she added.

"What do you mean, Grandma?" Burke asked, a bit confused.

"What I mean is, don't rush. You don't have to be in a hurry to solve this matter. You have prepared for this project for so many years. A few more years of waiting will not do you any harm at all." Burke's grandmother used to be a fearless businesswoman when she was younger, so she was experienced in things like this.

"We all know that the HT Estate Project has failed because of a mole inside our company. Now, if you get too anxious to find out who are the people behind this, you will tend to do things on impulse. You will only end up falling into their trap. Just take it easy. You are in the light, while your opponents are hiding in the dark. Sooner or later, I know that they will show themselves up," Burke's grandmother continued. She then turned to Burke and said seriously, "Forget about the HT Estate Project for now. It's time to deal with the mess between you and Rose."

When Rose came back to the manor, it was almost lunchtime.

Seeing that Burke's car was still in the garage, her expression slightly darkened. She deliberately came back late, hoping that he would be gone soon. As much as possible, she didn't want to see him again after what happened last night.

"Rose, you are back. Come and have lunch now," Sophie, who had just come out of the kitchen, greeted her with a smile.

"Where is Grandma?" Rose asked, looking around.

"She went to her villa to have a rest. She said that she didn't want to disturb her grandchildren." Sophie giggled and covered her mouth to suppress her laugh.

Rose was not surprised anymore. After all, they had both stayed in separate villas since they arrived here.

She nodded at Sophie without saying anything more.

"Mr. Gu hasn't gotten up yet. I'll go and tell him that lunch is ready." Sophie took off her apron and added, "Since he is here today, I've made his favorite crabs. I'm sure he'll like it."

For some reason, Rose felt nervous when she thought that she would have lunch with Burke. She subconsciously clenched her hands.

A few moments later, Rose was so surprised when Sophie rushed downstairs. "Rose,

Mr. Gu has a fever!"

Rose froze for a couple of seconds. But when she came back to her senses, she put down her chopsticks and ran upstairs instinctively.

Burke was lying in bed with a flushed face. The air-conditioner was on, but beads of sweat still filled his forehead. There was no trace of his usual vigor and high spirit at all.

"Burke? What is happening to you?"

Rose reached out to touch his forehead. But she subconsciously withdrew her hand when she felt his high temperature.

His eyes were closed, and he seemed unconscious, so she panicked at once.

"He's so hot. Sophie, call the doctor right away!"

"Okay, I will."

Sophie hurriedly picked up the phone to call the doctor.

Rose sat on the edge of the bed and looked at Burke. She had planned to leave him alone after telling Sophie to call the doctor. But seeing his current condition, her heart couldn't afford to ignore him. She wouldn't feel at ease unless she made sure that the man she loved was safe.

'Oh, Rose. Why are you so stubborn?

Have you forgotten how he has treated you and your child? Why do you still care so much about him?'

she scolded herself inwardly with a bitter smile on her face.

She felt like she was doomed to suffer again this time.

When the doctor arrived, he immediately checked Burke thoroughly. His fever was at forty degrees Celsius.

He gave Burke some medicine to lower his body temperature. After writing a prescription, he told Rose of the do's and don'ts then left.

Rose took care of Burke and never left his side.
