"What happened yesterday?" Jeremy asked.

Sherry pursed her lips and didn't say anything, her eyes looking empty as if her mind was somewhere else.

The image of Jeffery rushing over and blocking her was still vivid in her mind.

"Tell me!" Jeremy pressed when she didn't respond, raising his voice.

Everyone in elevator was staring at them. Sherry could feel everyone's gaze on and for some reason, her eyes felt wet.

Upon noticing this, Jeremy realized that his voice was a little loud and harsh. So he lowered his voice and asked, "Why did he do that? Why did my father say that you hurt Jeffery?"

"Your father was telling the truth," Sherry replied indifferently.

"I want to hear your side. What on earth happened?" Jeremy asked sharply, frowning.

As Sherry didn't respond, Jeremy's patience quickly ran out.

Finally, the elevator arrived at the first floor. Everyone walked out of the elevator with Sherry and Jeremy leaving last.

"Are you really not going to tell me?" Jeremy said helplessly, following her.

Sherry still remained silent. She felt as if her legs were so weak that even just taking a step was difficult for her.

Jeremy grabbed her hand and led her out of the hospital.

"What are you doing? Let go of me!" She glowered at Jeremy.

"I want to know the truth!" Jeremy said coldly as pulled her to a quiet place where they could talk in private.

Sherry looked up at him with tears in her eyes. "Don't ask. It's all my fault. Your father is right. It's all my fault!"

Eyes reddened, the wind blew on her face with her hair flying about as she spoke.

"Stop asking anymore questions. No matter how many times you ask me, my answer remains. But I won't let them go!" Sherry said firmly, a determined look on her face.

Her eyes were welling up with tears yet the anger in her was evident. She clenched her fists as if she was trying to restrain herself.

"Who are 'them'?" Jeremy asked urgently.

Sherry began to breathe rapidly, gritting her teeth. "It's all because of them..." Then she continued, "I won't forgive myself either."

Jeremy had no idea what she was talking about. He grabbed her by the shoulders and asked, "What are you talking about? Who did it?"

Jeremy's grip on her shoulders was too tight that it hurt her a bit. Still, she merely just asked, "How's your father doing?"

Jeremy finally loosened his grip on her shoulders and said casually, "He's fine. He just passed out but it's nothing serious."

Sherry discreetly wiped her tears while Jeremy's heart pounded.

All of a sudden, he reached out and pulled Sherry in his arms. With his lips pressed against her hair, he murmured, "I won't let them hurt you."

Just recalling how his father had slapped Sherry made him furious already.

Sherry was stunned. Did Jeremy really think that she asked about his father because she was scared of him?

"No, let me go!" Sherry protested.

However, Jeremy refused to let her go.

How could he let go of such a woman?

"Tell me, what

t's all my fault... I was too self-righteous..." Sherry said, sadness laced in her tone.

When she spoke, she seemed a little out of breath and her shoulders were trembling.

Sighing, Chester said, "No, it's not. It's Zoe's fault. It wasn't your fault. You didn't do anything wrong."

"No..." She shook her head vigorously. "I wanted to take revenge on Zoe and her family but I just didn't expect that Jeffery would get hurt in the process."

If she hadn't planned to take revenge on Zoe, her family never would have come to her house and this whole thing never would have happened.

After all, she was the one who started all this!

Once Sherry had started crying, it seemed that she couldn't stop anymore. She was finally letting out all the emotions she had been keeping inside for the past two days.

"No, it's not like that. It's their fault. They were the ones who provoked you first!" Chester corrected her.

However, Sherry stubbornly said, "No, it's my fault. Jeffery didn't provoke them but he ended up like this because of me!"

Chester's mouth twitched. He held Sherry by the shoulders and made her look him in the eye. "Don't think that way. It's Zoe's fault. She's despicable!"

With tears all over her face, Sherry looked at Chester, her vision blurred and asked, "Really?"

Chester was worried about her. "Of course, how could that be your fault? You let her go again and again over the years but she used that against you and even as an excuse to do something as evil as this!"

Sherry sniffed as she listened to Chester comforting her.

"If you blame yourself then doesn't that mean that they're not going to take responsibility for what they did?" Chester posed, frowning.

Sherry hurriedly shook her head. "Of course not. She deserves to die. She should be responsible for what she should did!"

She was the one who had caused that fire in Sherry's house almost killing Kami and Lucas. And now this—Zoe was evil and she was unstoppable. It seemed that she had no conscience.
