Suddenly, a pleasant ringtone broke the silence in the car. Mandy took out her phone. Nathan glanced at the screen. It was Colin.

Mandy was hesitant at first, unsure on whether or not she should answer. What if Nathan spoke up? However, if she didn't answer the phone, Colin would be even more worried.

On its fourth ring, Mandy finally answered.

"Mand, where are you? Did you get off work? It's raining heavily now. Do you want me to pick you up?" he asked anxiously from the other end of the line.

"There's no need for that. You've said that you've got a dinner party to get to, right? I'm fine. Besides, my friend already picked me up," she comforted. Mandy glanced at the window, seeing how it was raining cats and dogs. She knew for a fact that the traffic ahead of her would be unforgiving.

Knowing Nathan, he must've something to tell her.

"Who's the friend?"

"Well…" she hesitated. "It's Cassie. Look, Colin, we'll talk later." She hung up immediately, glancing uneasily at the man beside her.

"Why didn't you tell him you were with me?" Nathan sneered, turning the steering wheel.

She stayed silent.

"Are you afraid? Or are you guilty?" His eyes glinted.

"Nathan," she warned, gritting her teeth. The man was annoying as hell!

"You're actually pretty good at lying, aren't you? You were already good three years ago when you told me that all you wanted was to relax. When in reality, you eloped." Nathan parked his car in the underground parking lot of a high-end housing estate.

There was dead silence in the car as the tension between them grew.

"When did you learn to lie so confide

andy glared at him. "What are you trying to do?"

"Please, I'm not interested in a second-hand woman," he murmured. Nathan's face was colored with anger and jealousy.

"Are you calling me second-hand?" Mandy clenched her fists.

Nathan sneered, "My mistake. I meant third-hand."

"Go to hell! As if you're so pure," she snapped.

Nathan snorted, not saying a word.

Although he was angry, he still patiently checked Mandy's right foot. He turned her ankle. Mandy gasped. "It hurts."

He quickly wrapped a cloth around her ankle. "Don't worry. It's just a sprain," he said coldly. "It'll recover in three days."

"You should be a doctor." Her eyes glinted, wanting to thank him. "You're even better than me."

"Please. How could you be a doctor when you're such an idiot? Your patients must be thanking their lucky stars to have survived under your care. Thank God, you've quit. You've saved plenty of lives," he mocked her.

'She can't even take care of herself, and she goes around claiming that she's a doctor, ' he thought to himself, shaking his head in worry.
