The elevator went up to the 24th floor, where the Cardiology Department was.

Mandy got off the elevator in high spirits, followed by Eve. Mandy didn't even look back.

Cassie was sitting at the nurses' station. She was supposed to be at work about half an hour earlier than the doctors, so when Mandy came to work, she was already there.

Cassie's face turned white as a sheet the minute she saw Mandy coming in with Eve–she seemed utterly shocked.

Eve looked at her arrogantly, sneering. Cassie stared back at Eve until she disappeared with Mandy in her office.

Damn it! Was Eve here to expose her? In fear, Cassie started fidgeting in her seat. She wanted to go to Mandy's office to see what was happening, but she knew she couldn't.

"Eve, what are you doing here?" Mandy said. Her eyes were calm as she looked at Eve.

"I have something to tell you." Eve was very comfortable in Mandy's office despite the number of doctors inside it. Still, she strode toward the seat across Mandy and sat down.

"I need to do rounds. We can talk later once I'm done with work." Mandy was slightly annoyed. She thought to herself, 'What's Eve doing here? Can't she take a hint? Does she think the hospital is her home? Does she think the hospital is a place where she can just come whenever she wants?'

"Okay, I'll wait for you," Eve said with a smile.

Mandy put on her white coat and smoothed out the wrinkles. She then headed outside, holding a case report and stethoscope as Cassie followed behind her.

Cassie was too scared to say a word. She was afraid Mandy had already found out what happened and was consequently mad at her.

It didn't take long for Mandy to finish her rounds since there were no surgeries scheduled that morning. However, Mandy just wanted to attend to the patients at the ER so she could get away from Eve. She really wasn't in the mood to talk to her.

However, Mandy had no choice. She had to return to her office. Eve

Cassie standing there with tears in her eyes. Without saying anything, she walked up to her and gave her a big hug.

"Cas, don't say anything. We'll always be best friends." Mandy held Cassie tightly. She knew how bad Cassie must have felt.

"Mand, thank you for forgiving me. Sorry, I'm sorry..." Tears welled up in her eyes and rolled down her cheeks. She suddenly burst into tears.

Mandy knew what kind of person Cassie was. She was pure and innocent, which had made her an easy target for evil people like Eve, but she knew Cassie knew right from wrong. To Mandy, Cassie was a good friend to keep.

"Don't worry. We're friends, and I want to continue being friends with you for a long time. Don't blame yourself. You didn't do anything wrong. I believe you." Mandy rubbed her shoulders to comfort her.

"Mand, I really don't know what to say." Cassie was overwhelmed by Mandy's warm words. In response, she hugged Mandy even tighter.

"Don't cry. People will laugh at you if they see you crying." After a while, they finally let go of each other, and Mandy wiped off her tears.

Friendship could be as easy as just simply forgiving the other person for his or her mistakes. In this case, Cassie made a mistake, and she knew she was wrong, which made Mandy want to give her a second chance.
