I slammed down the telephone then squeezed my temples in damn irritation. The project my father transferred to me was giving me a headache. These Japanese partners were fucking making demands when they only paid twelve percent.

My thoughts suddenly interrupted when Nikki, my general manager, stepped inside the room.

"Hey…" she greeted with a smile. "You don't look fine, how are you?"

"What are you still doing here? I thought you were busy with your prenuptial?"

She rolled her eyes. "I can't if my boss is alone right here and he needed help. But this is not why I am here. You have a visitor outside."

"What? Who is it?"

She crossed her arms and raised her eyebrow. "Long legs, blonde, curvy. Who else?"

"Rebecca, " I concluded. "But come on, do you really have to say it like that? I think I'm having a thing with brunettes now." With Nikki, I always find myself at ease. She was one of the few friends I could trust, and she was dedicated to her job, I must add.

"You and your flirting." She clicked her tongue. "This is why my fiancée didn't want me working with you."

I laughed. "Tell Cavendish my regards."

"He actually said the same thing."

"Alright." I cleared my throat. "Tell Rebecca she can come in."

"Sure, boss." She winked, then exited the room.

A few minutes later, Rebecca stepped inside. I could already tell what she wanted. She was going to ask me about the process of Scarlet's transfer papers. To be honest, I didn't want to delay it. I just wanted to torture the witch.

When she turned out to be Ericka, it actually gave me an idea of how I was going to deal with her. I could never accept her as a part of my family. How could I when she was making me hard all the time?

Rebecca settled in the seat in front of my desk. She pulled out the documents from her bag and put it on the table. It wasn't the transfer titles, but something else.

"What is this?"

"You have to review this, " her tone sounded serious.

I frowned. "What's wrong?"

"I think you need to think twice, Luke. Your father doesn't seem to know your stepsister well. I think you should talk to your father about this. I don't think we should proceed the transfer, for now."

"Why not?" I finally opened the first folder.

"It's her documents for the civil registrar. Your stepsister seemed to be married before."

The world stopped for a moment. I don't think I heard her right.

"What? Can you repeat what you just said?"

She sighed. "She was married before, Luke. I don't really find this as an issue, but I just thought you might not know."

I choked and glanced up at Rebecca in surprise because I think I just received all the possible shocking revelation I could in a few days.

"Married?" I repeated hoarsely.

"Yes, but she still appears to be a single woman because her marriage was invalid. But yes, it was recorded that she was supposed to be married

I couldn't help but laugh. "Thanks."

I took a deep breath and headed inside.

Slowly, I forced my feet to come upstairs. What did he want now? I was working on my thesis. Couldn't he just cooperate with me once and let me be?

I knocked on the library door. I did not wait for an answer because I wasn't sure if he responded or not. I found Luke immediately standing in front of the shelves, scanning through the line of books.

I cleared my throat to get his attention. "What do you want? I'm working on my thesis."

"It's Nate, isn't it?" He spun around and faced me, dressed in an impeccable navy-blue three-piece suit. He seemed to have just come home from his office.

"Let him wait." He put the book back on the shelve. The sound made me jump in surprise. "Have you thought about my proposition?"

"There's nothing to think about. I already said no."

He smirked. "You answered me without even thinking. Last night, I told you that you'll regret that you refused."

"I won't regret it to life!" I shot back. "Did you just ask me to come to her to say that?"

He shrugged. "I was actually about to propose a new deal, and it's something you wouldn't be able to resist."

I lifted my forehead. "And what is that?"

"First, you're coming with me to Cambridge. We're leaving tomorrow. I'm doing you a favor since there was nothing to do in this house. And of course, I insist. Second, you're going to tell me which dorm do you live so I could come to see you whenever I like it. Third, you should be available for me on weekends. Lastly…" He slipped his hands into his trousers and walked towards me, "you're all going to do it because I'm going to save you from an upcoming humiliation since I've found out your secret."

My mouth parted. My heart just stopped beating.

"What secret?"

His expression darkened, and for the first time in my life, I felt his control over me. "You were married, witch."
