Two nights later, Louis visited my penthouse, but he wasn't alone. Demi came with him. As much as I didn't want to speak to any of them, I wanted to know what the hell happened.

"Damon, just let me speak, " she pleaded, she's back to being Demi again.

"Say it, I don't have a lot of time." I strolled back into my living room and slumped on the couch. She remained standing.

"I was wrong, I know. I told you I was still fighting this, but sometimes I just can't help it."

I buried my face in my palms briefly. "What is it that you two really want to tell me?"

"I'm here to say goodbye and this time, I'm not coming back, " Demi announced, her voice filled with regret. "We're here to end this, Damon. All of this."

"Damon, " Louis interjected. "You know how it was before, it's unavoidable."

"And you're fine with this Louis?" I cracked at him instead. "That isn't what I saw when you met her again."

"Don't be so cruel, Damon. You know she can hear us, " he said.

I stood and faced him. "Just say it, Louis. It's Sofia. Sofia can hear me, that's what you want to say. After all this time, you haven't moved on."

"But you don't understand. I promised to take care of her back then. If it weren't for of you, Sofia wouldn't shut off!" he barked.

"Louis, no!" Demi grabbed his arm, stopping him. "Don't, please. You know how much agony we've been through because of this, and it is time for me to correct things. We already talked about this, right?"

He didn't answer.

I held his shoulder. "Louis, I know that it's been hard for you, too. You couldn't let go of her all this time."

He shook his head. "I can't."

"But you have to, " Demi said softly, then held his hand. "Louis, you have to help me."

"And how are you going to tell Nikki this?" I questioned. "She's hurt. How are you going to explain this to her?"

He shut his eyes and exhaled sharply. "I'll tell her myself."

"I don't know how we ended up here, actually." Megan took a sip of her Cosmo. I honestly didn't have anyone to call right now, aside from her. "I haven't seen you these past two months. How come you just called me in the middle of the night And I'm surprised. This was the first time you asked me to go to a nightclub. But it's your birthday, so it's fine with me. Happy Birthday!" her voice mixing up with the ear shuddering hip-hop music. The place was frantic tonight with tons of beer spilling and sweaty boys on the dance floor.

"My birthday was two days ago, but thanks."

"Okay, so you said your boss—your hot boss who's in love with you—has this little brother who's totally into you, but they also

ery drunk. You could have been raped if I wasn't there to take you."

"Why would you take me here? You could've brought me to my apartment."

"Nikki, it was four in the morning. You wouldn't want me to disturb the neighborhood."

"Why not? And what is this?" I clenched the hem of the T-shirt I was wearing. "Who changed me?"

"I did. What am I supposed to do? Let you sleep covered in your own puke?"

I almost choked. "Did we—?"

He raised an eyebrow. "I'll forget that you asked me that."

I guess that was a no, then. "I need to go home."

"Not looking like that." He walked to the side of the bed and picked up the clothes that were neatly folded over the bedside table. "Here. These are mine. Wear this and go downstairs. There's breakfast in the dining room. You should eat. I'll just get dressed."

I nodded and took the clothes. "I'm sorry. I don't know what happened."

He frowned. "You don't?"

"I don't. I was dancing with this guy and—"

"Oh, the guy who was grinding his dick on you?" He smirked humorlessly. "I almost forgot who you were, Nikki. How could you let him touch you? I don't want anything like this to happen again."

"I was not in the right frame of mind, okay?" I tried to reason. "I wanted to relax, and my friend—hey, did you see my friend?"

"Yes. She helped me to clean you up last night."

"And one more thing, " he continued, "I don't like that you jumped on me like that when you were drunk."

"What's that supposed to mean? What do you mean jumping on you? Did I do something weird?"

Shit! I couldn't remember. What was he talking about?

Damn it! I really don't!

"You don't remember?"

"Never mind, just…" he groaned, "never mind." Damon turned away, then exited the room.
