'Wait a minute...' Cassandra thought as if she'd missed something important.

If she wasn't mistaken, Rufus had just said something about pregnant women. 'Is he saying I'm pregnant?' she wondered.

When he came back, Rufus saw Cassandra sitting on the bed, looking absent-minded.

"What's wrong? Are you still not feeling well?" he walked to her and asked out of concern.

Cassandra raised her head to look at him in disbelief. "Rufus, did you just say that I'm pregnant?" she asked, her voice quivering.

With a smile at the corners of his mouth, Rufus stroked her head gently. "Yeah, you're nearly two months pregnant. Didn't you know?" he said.

Cassandra thought for a while. To be honest, she didn't know she was pregnant. Her periods had always been irregular, so she didn't think much of it when she didn't get hers last month.

She was surprised to find that she was indeed pregnant.

"I'm so very happy, Cassandra," Rufus said joyfully as he held her in his arms.

Cassandra could imagine how happy he was. She knew that Rufus had always wanted a baby, and that was why he always wanted to try. So it must feel like his dream was finally coming true.

"I'm very happy too," Cassandra said in a low voice, inhaling Rufus's scent.

It was raining cats and dogs and the wind was howling. Every now and then, a thunder roared outside. Inside the house was the complete opposite. It was warm and cozy.

Cassandra took her temperature again. She still had a mild fever, but it was already going away. It was nothing to worry about because Doctor Li had said that once she had taken the medicine, she would get better in no time.

He had prescribed a lot of traditional Chinese medicines for Cassandra, most of which were useful for miscarriage prevention. Cassandra felt distressed when she saw Rufus carrying a dozen of paper bags filled with traditional Chinese medicines for her.

"Rufus, I don't want to take traditional Chinese medicines. They taste bitter," she complained.

Rufus said firmly, "No, you have to take all of them. They don't have any side effects. They're very good for you and will keep the baby healthy."

Despite her reluctance, Cassandra would do as she was told because she wanted her baby to be healthy and she too had been looking forward to this.

"Fasten your seat belt," Rufus told Cassandra as soon as they got in the car.

Cassandra lowered her head to fasten her seat belt, and just shortly after that, she closed her eyes, about to fall asleep again.

"You just woke up. How come you're still sleepy?" Rufus asked, stroking her head and trying to wake her up.

Pouting, Cassandra answered, "I'm sleepy. So what? Isn't it normal for pregnant women to be sleepier than usual?"

Rufus just smiled. "All right. Go on and get some sleep," he said helplessly.

With that, Cassandra closed her eyes and was soon fast asleep.

When they arrived home, Cassandra opened her eyes in a daze. When she glanced at Rufus, she complained, "I'm hungry again."

The medical congee that she'd just had was much faster to digest than ordinary food. Besides, she had been eating a lot lately.

Back when they were still in Melbourne, Cassandra had been eating a lot too. Rufus had figured that she just liked t

e it easy. I'll be back," she promised.

Rufus looked gloomy. "It's okay. I'll stay with you there if I have to," he said.

In a flirty tone, Cassandra said, "Don't forget to pay for lodging."

Rufus pulled her into his arms and whispered in a low voice, "I'll pay for lodging with the rest of my life if I have to."

Cassandra blushed and then turned to him and glared at him. "You're breaking the rules!" she shouted.

Rufus smiled, contented.

After lunch, Cassandra went back to their bedroom with Rufus carrying her in his arms.

"Honey, you can sleep if you want to," Rufus said softly.

With a corner of the quilt in her hand, Cassandra looked reluctant. She said, "I slept all morning. I don't feel sleepy anymore."

Sitting by her side, Rufus said in a gentle voice, "How about I tell you a story? If you feel sleepy, you can sleep anytime you want, okay?"

Cassandra glanced at the clock. "Aren't you supposed to be at work?"

Shaking his head, Rufus said, "No, I'm staying home with you today."

Cassandra suddenly felt guilty. "You don't need to do this. I still have more than half a year in my pregnancy. Are you planning to just stay with me that whole time?"

Rufus seemed to really consider this option.

Frustrated, Cassandra grabbed his arm and bit it.

She calmed down when she saw the pained look on her man's face.

"They say that a pregnant woman goes crazy for three years after she gives birth but I didn't expect my baby's daddy to go crazy too," Cassandra complained.

Rufus ignored her. He gazed back at her, beaming. "Cassandra, I want more kids with you. I don't mind being crazy all my life."

Cassandra found this both funny and annoying. She glared back at him. "Do you think I'm a breeding pig who can just pop out baby pigs when you want me to?"

Rufus raised his eyebrows, feigning surprise. "Aren't you? After all, you just eat and sleep all day long like a pig."

Cassandra gritted her teeth and shouted, "Rufus Luo! You're going crazy!"

Rufus grinned when he saw Cassandra getting even more annoyed.

"I thought you were going to tell me a story but you're just pissing me off!" Cassandra whined.
