When they stepped out of the restaurant, Cassandra hurriedly covered her eyes with her hands. Rufus let out a laugh and whispered into her ears, "What? Are you scared of the sun? I didn't know that!"

It was noon and the sun was up and shining brightly. Cassandra replied with her eyes half closed, "It's too bright. I need to adjust my eyes first."

She then opened her eyes slowly and looked around as something crossed her mind, something her mother used to say to her when she was a little girl. Edith once said that a smart mind always suffered from a bad health and a deep love wouldn't last long. Too much was as bad as too little, and it would bring bad luck.

"Come on! Let's go and look around," Rufus said energetically. Cassandra was pleasantly surprised by Rufus's eagerness but was happy to spend time with him.

"Let's go! There are so many things to see and explore! I also want to look at some architectural designs," Cassandra said with a smile on her face.

They took their time looking around the garden hand in hand. Cassandra was obsessed with design so they stayed longer than they had planned.

Rufus noticed how much Cassandra was enjoying herself, so he suggested, "How about we go to the Royal Exhibition Building? You're going to love it there."

As he expected, her eyes lit up right away. "Are you talking about the place that was initially built for the Melbourne International Exhibition in 1880?" she asked.

Rufus nodded and didn't say anything. He realized that Cassandra was paying more attention to those buildings than him, which made him feel a bit sad.

"I'd love to! I can't wait! Let's go!" she exclaimed. She had already seen so many modern buildings. It would be refreshing to see some ancient buildings for a change.

Rufus smiled at the childish expression on her face and then led her to the exit to hail a taxi.

Cassandra was pleasantly surprised to find that their taxi driver was a young, gent

o quit the joke and bent down to his knees so that he was next to Cassandra. He wrapped his arm around her shoulders and rubbed her tenderly, whispering, "I was just joking. Let's see what we can do to help him."

Cassandra let out a sigh and turned to him. "Stupid! But do you have any ideas?"

The boy's eyes lit up then like a switch was turned on, and he burst out crying, "You're my mommy. Why don't you believe me? Why don't you want me anymore? What did I do?"

The place was thick with silence and it wasn't allowed to make much noise either. The little boy's crying rung through the entire place.

Cassandra was at the ends of her wits and looked at Rufus for help.

Rufus nodded at her and turned to the boy. He put his finger on his lips, instructing the boy to calm down, and then said softly, "What do you call me if she's your mother?"

The little boy stopped crying, wiped off the tears on his cheeks and looked at him curiously.

Rufus turned his head a little to Cassandra and said with a smile, determined and slow, "She's my wife, and you called her mommy, right?"

The boy lowered his little head and thought for a moment. "She's my mommy. You're her' daddy," he murmured.

Then he raised his head and looked at Rufus with glistening eyes, "Daddy!"
