Jill stared at Lionel, regrets filling her heart as she looked at her only son, her flesh and blood, and felt nothing but disappointment. She had brought him into the world with expectations, but he had failed her.

Didn't he have any sense of urgency? Since Rufus's return, he had been advancing without pause. He had boasted of impressive results that even she had to acknowledge. Horace had entrusted the Tang Group to him.

Meanwhile, Lionel was failing miserably, losing projects left and right. There was no question as to who was doing a better job in managing the company. Jill seethed in anger as she thought of how the company, her son's birthright, had been passed on to some bastard child.

And now, Lionel was at a complete and utter loss about what to do next.

Family was a web of intricacies. A child could turn the tables and decide victory or loss. Jill knew Horace. After all, she had been married to the man for so long. She was certain that he would show Lionel more favor if a grandchild came into the picture.

Why couldn't Lionel understand that?

"Mother, you're taking this way too seriously. Why are you suddenly talking about the extinction of the human race?"

Lionel chuckled at his mother's lecture. He couldn't help but laugh at how worried his mother was. To him, she was starting to sound a bit crazy.

Horace had been silent the whole time and merely gazing at them with furrowed eyebrows.

Putting the newspaper down, he sat up straight and turned to everyone in the room.

"How about letting Ivy move out for a time? The villa will undergo renovations, and there is plenty of work to be done. She's preparing for pregnancy, and staying in this place with all

banishing her from the household like a old rag doll no one wanted. She was no fool. His excuse did not fool her even for a moment.

And yet, there was nothing she could do. Horace stood over everything and everyone in the household; she had better bite her tongue and swallow her words because she knew what was good for her. Clashing against him face-to-face would spell nothing but trouble.

"Discuss? There is no need. I will ask our own engineering team to send some workers for the job. We have been living in this villa for quite a time now, and it's time for thorough repairs and renovation,"

Horace answered his wife's question, observing her closely. For a moment, he was worried that she knew what his real motives were, but it seemed that he had nothing to be anxious about. How stupid his wife was!

He did not want Ivy to continue staying in the villa, but Jill had no clue about his husband's schemes. Despite this, she eyed him with doubtful eyes, trying to decipher what he was thinking. They had been married for so many years, but there were still parts of him that would forever remain a mystery, even to her.
