"I just want to know why you hit James again. What did he do wrong? Are you angry with him because he treats me well? You want to beat the shit out of everyone who is kind to me, so that I will have no one but you to depend on. Isn't that right?" Jean questioned him furiously.

"Jean, what is that supposed to mean?" Zed asked, his fists still clenched at his sides. He was really upset that Jean was defending that man. James was just an outsider.

"I know that you are having an affair with Julie. But I have given you the freedom to do whatever you want. So, why are you interfering in my life now? Will you only be completely satisfied when you drive away everyone from my side? Don't I have the right to live my life the way I want? I don't want to fight with you again. Zed, you don't have to be a two-timer. Please leave me alone and go to the other woman. I don't care!"

Jean shouted angrily. Then she encircled her arm around James' waist and walked him inside.

Watching them walk away together, Zed felt his insides boiling in fury.

He yelled in a cold voice, "Jean, I've told you many times that there's nothing going on between Julie and me. I don't know why it's so hard for you to believe. I love you so much. We've spent so many days and nights together. Why do you still refuse to place a little faith in me? This is ridiculous!"

Extremely disappointed by her lack of trust in him, Zed heaved a heavy sigh and slipped into his car. He turned on the ignition, and slammed his foot down on the gas.

He sped on the highway and passed several traffic lights. He finally arrived at a bar far away from the city center. He ordered a bottle of highly concentrated wine and drank it all alone.

He didn't stop until he was completely drunk. At last, the bar owner took him to the hotel next to his bar.

Next morning, Zed woke up with a rather heavy head. He grabbed his cell phone and checked the missed calls and unread messages waiting for him.

His vision was still blurry, so he took a closer look at it and realized that all the calls were from the owner of the hotel in the south. He had also sent several messages, asking anxiously whether he was still intending to

y. Julie had been a tremendous help.

He didn't have any bias against Julie now. In fact, he thought she was a victim too. She was innocent, just like him, but was considered wrongly as the other woman by Jean.

They went to a Chinese restaurant and ordered a lot of spicy dishes. At first, Julie ate happily with Zed. But moments later, she ended up having to drink lots of water, with a runny nose and a tearful face.

"Obviously, you don't do spicy. Why did you order all these spicy dishes?" Zed asked as he poured some water for her.

"I wanted to try something new. Besides, Chinese food tastes really good. I love it. Of course, I prefer it with fewer peppers," Julie responded with a smile. She took the water Zed had poured for her and added, "Thank you. You're so sweet."

"I am the one who should be thanking you. You saved me much trouble back there," said Zed. He handed Julie a tissue.

She took it from him with a smile on her face, pretending to accidentally touch his finger when it was fully intentional. She pulled her hand away with a soft smile.

"I smelled wine on you when we were sitting in the lobby of the hotel. Did you drink before coming for the meeting?" Julie asked, her face a little red.

"Last night," Zed replied shortly.

"You're too careless. You shouldn't have drunk so much the day before signing a contract. Don't do that again. Someone could take advantage of it, and you might end up taking heavy losses."
