Seeing Zed and Julie flirting with each other openly in public hurt Jean. Feeling defeated, she said to James, "Let's take the opposite road to walk to the car."

James nodded his head. He understood she wanted avoid seeing or talking to Zed. For that, she would take another road even if it was longer.

They carried the gas can alternately and headed straight toward the car.

On the other side of the road, Julie and Zed were still tugging back and forth, but it looked like they were having some kind of quarrel.

"Julie, this is none of your business! Please don't interfere in our affairs in the future!" Zed yelled at Julie and gave her a warning.

He realized if Julie hadn't sent him the picture deliberately, he wouldn't have lost his mind and made the fuss that displeased Jean. The more he calmed down, the more he was convinced Julie was behind all this. She had manipulated him and created a trap for him.

"I am just trying to help you. Please don't get me wrong," Julie said with a pitiful look on her face.

"So I got you wrong, huh? Okay, my bad. I did get someone wrong, but turns out it was my wife and not you. Anyway, I've got to go home. Feel free to go wherever you want..."

He walked to his car's side as he spoke, ready to drive home. But before he got settled in the seat, Julie sprinted to his car and stopped him. "Zed, I..." she started speaking.

"Miss Julie, if you are really that bored, just go home and rest. It's getting very late. I cannot accompany you." Zed gave her a cold look and shrugged her hand off the window edge. He got into the car, rolled the window up and drove away, leaving Julie alone by the roadside.

Saddened by Zed's indifference, Julie clenched her hands into fists and stamped her feet angrily, looking at his car receding in the distance.

She looked back to find Jean and James to be nowhere around. She found herself stranded alone. A gust of anger seemed to blow at her chest. She was irritated, feeling she had unexpectedly become the biggest loser of the day.

Jean and James walked to where the car was parked. James glanced at her from the corner of his eyes, trying to read her expression.

"Is everything all right?" James asked, summoning up some courage. His voice was full of worry and concern.

Jean nodded and replied with her eyes low, "Yeah...Why do you ask?"

Her face remained gloomy even as she tried to feign a smile and act like everything was okay.

re you trying to do, Julie?" Zed muttered to himself. He could see through everything now. Julie appeared to be following Jean and for some reason, wanted to take malicious pictures of her. Her intention could be to send them to him and sabotage their relationship again.

Zed stood up and sneakily passed by Jean to reach Julie and stood behind her. He patted her on the shoulder.

She got startled and turned back immediately. Her eyes widened in surprise the moment she saw Zed. She forced an awkward smile and spoke, "You are here too! What a coincidence!"

"Yeah, what a great coincidence. So, let's talk outside." Even before he finished speaking, he grabbed her arm and took her outside at the back of the bar. He gave her no chance to reply or resist.

Outside, cold wind hit Julie's body, making her shiver. Shuddering, she spoke, "My coat is still in there...Can I go and fetch it first?"

"Don't worry. I won't keep you for long. I just have to ask you a few questions..." Zed said in a serious tone. He put his hands in his pockets and looked at her, frowning.

Julie wrapped her arms around her body and pursed her lips. "Okay, then, go on," she said.

She felt extremely anxious and uneasy. She didn't know what he would ask but she felt guilty like a thief caught on the spot.

"Why are you here?" Zed asked.

"I usually like to get a drink when I can't sleep at night," Julie explained breezily.

"Really? But this bar is quite far from your house. Coincidental that you end up where I am, isn't it?" Zed replied coldly, wondering how many more lies would she construct to get out of the situation.
