Before Jean could finish her sentence, James interrupted her. "You don't have to say anything more. I'll obey you. Wait here. Let me speak to the police," he said.

Jean found herself overflowing with guilt at his statement. James duly informed the police officer that he and Zed had decided to settle the matter out of the court. Hence, the police needn't involve themselves in the matter any longer.

Jean and Zed stood outside the police station, seeming awkward.

"I'm sorry, I was reckless today. I just assumed you had moved in with James..." Zed apologized softly.

Jean raised her hand gesturing him to stop explaining. Coldly, she said, "Don't even bother. What was supposed to occur, occurred in it's due course. Your lame attempt at justifying it won't ameliorate the situation. Just go home. I'm going to my own place as well."

As she got ready to leave, Zed stepped forward and grabbed her arm. He said, "Stop acting aloof like this. Come home with me."

Jean shook off his hand violently. Glaring at him, she huffed, "You think I'm pretending to be aloof?"

"Jean..." Zed softened his voice as he reasoned, "Anyway, you don't have to move out. We're still a couple, aren't we? There is nothing we can't work out. So come home with me, alright?"

"I was coerced to do all this because we couldn't solve the problem between us. Now that I've moved out, we can give each other some time to calm down and refocus on issues that matter the most," Jean replied, walking to the side of the road looking for a cab.

With a sigh, Zed followed her and said, "All right, I respect your decision. But now since it's gotten late, let me at least give you a lift."

"That won't be necessary. I'm perfectly capable of taking care of myself," she refused immediately without hesitation. At this point, she caught sight of a taxi. Wasting no time, she got into it.

As the taxi drove away lazily through the moonlight, Zed jumped into his car and fired up the engine. He followed Jean in order to figure out where she currently lived.

Jean glanced at the rear-view mirror and noticed Zed's car. Raising her eyebrows out of suspicion, she took out her phone and sent a message to him.

It read, "If you continue to follow me, I'll disappear from your life forever and you'll never be able to find a trace of me. You've my word."

After Zed got her message, he killed his car's engine immediately.

Feeling gloomy and exhausted, Jean looked out of the window. Aft

ulie turned down their requests. Hence, to create more chances to see Zed, she had to hire some people to pretend as clients and check in the hotel. Although it would cost her ample amount of money and an act that did seem laborious to pull off, she was convinced that all of her efforts would not be in vain.

'Zed and Jean haven't reconciled with each other yet. Now it's the best time for me to get close to Zed. If I can make him fall in love with me, I will lead a comfortable life and the money I've already spent here will amount to nothing. Once I hang out with him, I'm sure he'll do whatever I ask him of. I can milk from him the double amount of money I've spent, or maybe more.'

At the thought of this, she smiled complacently.

"I'm going to interview my assistant, so..." Zed said, looking slightly embarrassed. He wanted to stay away from Julie for he was afraid that Jean would get angry whenever she would get to know of this. Zed was sure that Jean would somehow be privy to this information one day, in one way or another.

"Is that so? Let me not waste any more of your time then. See you around," Julie responded with a faint smile, seemingly crestfallen.

As soon as she stepped out of Zed's office, she pulled out her cell phone and called her brother.

"Send your resume to J Hotel online. Hurry up," she ordered.

"Why would I?" Julie's brother countered, baffled by her abrupt demand.

"Never mind. I will give Mom a call. She will tell you what to do," Julie said before disconnecting the call.

She took the lift and reached the first floor. While she walked towards the entrance, she gave her mother a call.
