Clenching her fists, Julie glared at Zed and seethed, "What did I do? I know you dote on your wife, but you can't make me go on leave just because she doesn't like me."

"I can compensate you," Zed responded with a deep frown.

"I don't need compensation. All I need is fair treatment. I don't get it. This is between you and your wife. Why are you putting others in a dilemma?" Julie asked, her voice quivering.

She lowered her head as tears gushed out of her eyes.

Zed felt kind of guilty when he saw her shoulders shaking. He strode forward and patted on her shoulder lightly.

He explained gently, "I know that this is not fair to you because you haven't done anything wrong. But I hope you understand my situation here. My wife is fragile. I—"

But the more he tried to make her understand, the harder Julie cried. Zed could feel a headache setting in.

"You're making me look like a bad guy here. This is such a dilemma and I don't know how to make you see what I am going through," Zed said with a sigh.

He withdrew his hand from her shoulder and walked to the French window with a gloomy face.

'Looks like it's going to rain. The weather sucks, just like my mood, ' he thought, looking out the window.

Julie raised her head and rested her tearful eyes on Zed's back. Detecting the frustrated vibe he was giving off, she felt her heart ache slightly. The next second, she dashed forward and stood next to him.

"Fine, I agree. When your wife is feeling better, please let me know," Julie yielded, wiping off her tears with the back of her hand.

Upon hearing this, Zed turned around slowly to look at her. With a guilty smile, he said, "I will take care of this quickly."

"You must let me come back to work as soon as possible. To be honest with you, I started working here because of my family. They hoped that I would have a steady job here. Before coming here, I changed my jobs frequently and I never stayed in a place for more than three months. In fact, I had only worked at that auction house for two months. They com

Jean frowned uneasily. The dream popped into her head once again, more clearly this time. She became restless.

"Is he with Julie now?" Jean muttered to herself. The more she thought about it, the more uneasy she became. She tried to call him again, but it didn't go through. She couldn't handle it anymore.

She grabbed her coat and hurried out of the house. Reaching the curb, she hailed a cab. As she was about to get in, a man opened the door and got into the passenger seat.

"Hey! I called this cab!" Jean huffed.

"Did you? But I got in first. Why don't you get the next one?" the man said arrogantly. Turning to the driver, he urged, "Go. I got something important to attend to."

"No way! I have something urgent to deal with too," Jean said as she opened the door and sat in the back seat.

Staring between the two clients, the driver asked helplessly, "Where are you going?"

"J Hotel."

"J Hotel."

The two answered simultaneously.

Smirking at the pair, the driver said, "Great. You can split the fee."

He then started the car and drove into the traffic.

Jean threw an angry look at the man in the passenger seat. The longer she stared at him, the more familiar he looked. And then it struck her. 'It's the guy who bought all the bread from that bakery!'
