Jean fought through her heavy eyelids. Other than the fact that she wanted to wait for Zed, she couldn't stop thinking about Zed and Moore's conversation earlier.

Zed came out of the bathroom, a bit surprised when he saw that Jean had been waiting for him.

"Why haven't you slept yet? You said you were tired," Zed asked as he walked towards Jean. He knew in his heart, however, what was going on in her mind.

"Come here. I'll help you dry up," said Jean, averting the question. She got up from the bed and got a fresh towel. Jean ran the towel over Zed's hair, looking as if she was completely preoccupied with the action. "Did you have a drink downstairs?" she asked, a little too innocently.

"Of course we had a drink," Zed said with a laugh. 'Baby, I know you want to know what Moore and I talked about. Just ask me directly, ' he thought to himself.

"Well, what else did you do?" Jean pressed, her cheeks turning red.

'Bad Zed! I know you know what I meant. Why don't you just tell me what you two talked about? Do you really have to make fun of me?'

she thought to herself.

"Anything else? What do you mean?" he asked back as he shook his head, trying to suppress his laughter.

"Zed, you know what I meant," Jean replied sternly. She threw the towel she was holding to the side and sat down on the bed.

"I just don't get it. Jean, tell me what you want. I had a drink so I can't really catch up on what you're trying to say," he said, pretending to slur sometimes even. Jean stared at Zed angrily.

After a while, she took a deep breath, trying to calm herself down.

'Okay, relax. Maybe Zed is really just a bit drunk, ' she thought.

"Tell me what Moore said to you," she finally said, her tone suddenly low and serious. She held a steady gaze on Zed, waiting for his answer.

"Well, we had a long talk. Should I repeat it to you verbatim?" Zed looked up in the ceiling as he rubbed his chin, pretending to think it over.

"Zed..." Jean said through her teeth. She was really getting irritated with him.

'What is he doing? Is he making fun of me?

You are dead, Zed!' she thought.

Jean glanced at Zed. Suddenly, all her apparent frustration went away, and was replaced with

Deep inside, Zed sincerely wished Moore would find contentment.

Next morning, Jean woke up, stretching her arms. The space beside her was empty and cool. Zed had already left for work.

Jean rubbed her eyes, and got out of bed. After a quick shower and a change of clothes, she felt refreshed and invigorated.

Just then, she had just remembered that Moore had stayed the night.

At the thought of that, she was full of excitement and walked out of the room quickly to meet Moore downstairs.

As she turned the corner, she saw Moore sitting in the living room, neatly dressed. He was preoccupied with the newspaper he was reading.

When he heard Jean come up to him, he looked up and gave her a warm smile. He looked quite relaxed and calm as if nothing had happened last night.

"Good morning," Moore said casually.

"Good morning. You went to bed late last night. Why are you up so early?" Jean sat on the sofa across from Moore.

"After this weekend, I will go to work in Zed's company. I have promised my grandpa that I'll see him tomorrow. So I have to talk to Avery by today," replied Moore. He beamed at Jean.

Jean's face lit up. "How will you explain to Avery? Have you thought about it?"

Moore's lips turned down slightly at the corners at the sight of Jean's excitement. "I'll tell her that I will forget the past and move on. I want to start a new life with her. I will ask her to give me another chance. Jean, what do you think? Will she forgive me?"
