The next morning, Jackson opened his eyes little by little. He wanted to sleep in but knew he had to get up. He turned to the sleeping Cherry and whispered to her,"Just sleep, okay, baby? I need to take care of some work matters today. But I'll be back later."

"Come back and have lunch with me," Cherry whispered back, unable to open her eyes to look at Jackson.

"I'll come back as soon as I can," Jackson promised. Cherry nodded and went back to sleep with a light snore. Jackson kissed Cherry's cheek before he got up.

Jackson went downstairs after he washed up and got dressed to get some breakfast.

Joe was already at the breakfast table and his eyebrows knotted in confusion when he saw Jackson join him at the table without Cherry. Joe wondered why his Daddy wasn't in bed with his Mommy.

"Good morning, Daddy," Joe greeted Jackson gleefully, despite his confusion.

"Finish your breakfast, Joe. You don't want to be late for class," Jackson reminded Joe as he took his seat on the breakfast table.

"Don't worry, Daddy. I was up five minutes earlier today. And I have enough time before school starts. If not, I will ask Bill to drive fast so I can get to school on time. But I don't think there will be traffic going to school so I still won't be late," Joe explained his plan to Jackson. "I'm glad we live here, Daddy, in this place. Because there's no traffic, not a lot of cars on the road. And it's a quiet place. Thank you, Daddy. I really like living here."

"Are you giving me praises, Joe?" Jackson wasn't used to getting praises from Joe. 'What's going on? Why is Joe saying stuff like this?' Jack

er that didn't satisfy Lily. She asked again so she can get a more accurate answer.

"No, but thank you all the same. I'd better go back to take it myself. It's a valuable thing," declined Jackson. Then he looked at Lily and kept on speaking,"Don't forget to take good care of Cherry. That's the only thing I want you to pay great attention to."

Jackson went back to his food and newspaper. Lily nodded. "Okay, Mr. Jackson," Lily answered before she returned to the kitchen.

When Lily entered the kitchen, she let go of all pretenses and let the worry cover her face. She had to hold on to the hearth to keep herself from toppling down on the floor.

A cold shiver ran down her spine. It was almost certain that Jackson must come back for the token, the most important and precious thing for him. But the token was not at his family home now. He would not find it even though he came back. Furthermore, Jackson should care more about the safety of Cherry and Joe in such a hazardous situation. Why was he suddenly looking for the token anyway? Did they force him to look for it?
