Jade was living in her own bubble together with Mark, both pretending they only had each other. When two Saturdays passed without her going over to her mother, or them inviting her mother over for dinner, Camilla had enough. Jade was laying on the couch with Mark covering her, his mouth pressed against her neck while his hand was inside her panties, pleasuring her they both groaned in annoyance when the phone rang. They tried to ignore it, focusing on their pleasure when the constant ringing started to annoy them. Mark pushed himself off her, cursing as he reached for the phone, answering it rather rudely.

"Camilla."

Jade sat up straight, feeling like someone had splashed ice water on her. Fixing her clothes, she ran her fingers through her hair, trying to get rid of feeling dirty and embarrassed. Mark headed to her, the back of his hand gently pressing against her cheek as he talked to her mother. He was showing affection and she loved it. Leaning more into him she wrapped her fingers around his wrist and pulled him closer. He understood what she wanted and sat down beside her, letting her snuggle as he continued his conversation.

"We'll have dinner next week." Mark told her mother, "We have plans today, that's on me." Jade wrapped her arms around his waist as she listened to him handling her mother with ease, "I'll call you Monday to let you know about the time and place. I'll send a car to pick you up."

Jade smiled into his chest. Mark placed his hand against the back of her head and laced his fingers through her hair. Keeping her close to him.

"She is busy, but I'll ask her to give you a ring later."

He knew she was still coming off her high. She didn't want to talk to her mother just after her husband had been touching her. She needed some time to get her head straight and he knew. There were a lot of little things like that she appreciated about him. She wanted their little bubble to last forever because it was like heaven to her.

"It was nice talking to you too, have a nice weekend Camilla."

Mark ended the call and tossed the phone on the coffee table. He gently made me look up at him.

"You want to get off?"

She laughed at how serious he sounded when he asked that. She pressed a kiss to his lips and pulled away from him.

"I'm going to freshen up and then call my mom. She won't let this go until she has spoken to me."

"Okay, I'm in my office if you need me." He gently ran his fingers over her arm, causing shivers to run down her spine.

He went to his office while she headed to the bathroom to freshen up. She'd give her mother a quick ring and then surprise Mark in his office. Once she was decent enough she reached for her phone and called her mother. Unfortunately, the call ended longer than she wanted it to, so no surprise her husband. Instead, she talked to her mother until she yawned and pressed that she was tired and was going to bed now. She fell asleep right after, she didn't even feel it when Mark slipped in beside her and pulled her close to him, holding her while she slept.

Monday afternoon Mark called her at work, she excused herself to answer her phone and hid in the staffroom. No one had a problem with it, she was sure because they were all women and were all charmed by Mark.

"Hi."

It tickled her when he greeted her back, she could hear the smile in his voice.

"Hi." She heard him move around, muttering something to someone before he got back to her, "Sorry, I just remembered I had an invitation to a dinner tonight. I'm sorry I didn't tell you sooner."

"You forgot, of course, you couldn't tell me sooner." She brushed him off, "I'll be ready. Are you picking me up at work or the penthouse?"

"Home."

"Huh?"

"I'm picking you up at home." He told her firmly.

"Mark-"

"We'll talk about it later." His tone told her he wasn't letting it go, "I'll let you get back to work."

"See you later." She told him quietly.

"See you later."

Ending the call she went back to work, smiling all day even though she knew they were going to have a serious talk after their social dinner. Just hearing his voice made her day. She knew she was throwing everything out the window. But it was easier to give in than to fight and why should she fight? He got his revenge and after that, there was no harm done. She was safe and her mother was safe. To her, that was all that mattered.

Jade was dressed in an empire waist dress, the color a pale lilac. It was close to white, but in the right lighting, the purple shone through. The dress reached the floor but with her heels on she wouldn't trip over the skirt. Mark would stay by her side so she could use him to make sure she wouldn't embarrass herself or him for that matter. She had put her hair half up, the ends curled. Her makeup was very minimal, she figured light make-up went better with the light colored dress. She heard footsteps approach her

driving back home she was telling herself over and over again to suck it up and just tell him once they entered the apartment.

Slipping off her heels Jade dropped them by the couch like she always did. Her action made Mark behind her chuckle, he brushed past her heading to the kitchen.

"You want something to drink?"

"A wine, please."

"Red or white?" He called over his shoulder.

"Red."

She tossed her clutch on the table and sat down on the couch, pulling her legs under her to get more comfortable. She didn't try to think of anything because then she'd drive herself crazy, she'd just tell Mark and see where it would go from there.

"Here you go." She took the glass from Mark and watched him take a seat beside her.

He sipped from his tumbler, his eyes meeting hers, "You okay?"

"I need to tell you something."

He frowned, "Okay."

"You know how my father told me about you being involved with the same people as him?"

She noticed his grip on his tumbler getting tighter, "Yes, we've discussed this before."

"Scott confirmed it for me."

"Excuse me?"

She wrapped her fingers around his wrist and held onto him, afraid he'd walk away before she finished talking.

"Scott works for my father, he has been working for him since the beginning. You meeting him wasn't a coincidence. He is looking for an opportunity to get back at you for putting my father behind bars."

She felt Mark getting restless beside her, but she wasn't letting go of him.

"I thought I couldn't live with the fact that I'm married to the guy who ripped my family apart, but there must be something wrong with me because I chose you." She tightened her grip on his wrist, "I chose you over my father." Her voice trailed off, "And you might be doing the same things as him, yet I can't stop feeling the way I am right now."

Mark pushed off the couch and threw back his drink, placing the empty tumbler on the table. He shoved his hands in his pockets and walked to the window, his back facing her as he watched over the city.

"Scott is working for your father."

"Yes."

"And instead of choosing your family you chose me."

She nodded, but he couldn't hear her.

"You also know that I lied to you about those underworld ties. Yet you don't care."

Again she shook her head.

"I hate to break it to you Jade, but I think you're falling for me." He turned around facing her, his lips curled up to a smirk which she came to like, a lot, "Hard."

"It's your fault." She whispered.

He stepped closer to her, reaching out to run his fingers through her loose curls, "You're not alone in this. I'm right there with you."

He didn't say he was falling for her specifically but sometimes actions spoke louder than words. His soft touch made her tremble all over. Getting to her feet she stood on her toes and slowly leaned in, pressing a soft kiss to his lips. He kissed her back without hesitation, placing his hand on the back of her head to keep the kiss going.

All the things which worried her when she agreed to marry him didn't seem to matter anymore. She hated when people said that love made you blind, but it did exactly that. It blinded her. All she could see was Mark, all she wanted was him and everyone around them didn't matter anymore.
