Jade glanced at her soon to be husband who was sitting across her at the dining table, having breakfast together with her. It was a first and quite frankly it made her uncomfortable. She didn't know how to behave. Since she moved in together with him she was always on her own in the morning. Betty was there, but the older woman knew when to give a person their space.

Jade reached for her cup of tea and sipped it, pretending to be focused on her plate filled with two pieces of toast and a grapefruit. It wasn't a lot, but she wasn't that hungry this morning.

"How about I drop you off at the shop?"

Jade nearly choked in her tea, she placed the cup down and coughed a few times. Trying to even her breathing again. Mark quietly poured her a glass of water from the pitcher and handed it to her.

"Excuse me?"

He didn't seem bothered with her being so shocked, he flickered his eyes back to his phone and scrolled down again. Reaching for his cup of coffee and sipping it.

"Thought since we're both going out at the same time it would be more convenient if I also drop you off."

She cleared her throat, "Are you also picking me up afterward?"

He didn't look up as he answered her, "Of course."

"Then it's fine. I'd love a ride to work."

He didn't sound excited about it, but she figured he wasn't that into showing his emotions. He was more reserved and that was perfectly fine. She wasn't that loud either. With a mother like hers, it was a good thing to be more reserved. It kept you sane.

"Have you thought about what you're going to do about your father?"

"I think I'll pay him a visit."

Mark glanced at her, "You sure?"

It really confused her that he kept asking her that. She knew her father wasn't the best dad in the world, but he was still her father. He wasn't going anywhere and neither was she. She figured the least she could do was listen to whatever he had to say. She owed him that much.

"He is still my father."

He didn't elaborate on that, but she figured he had nothing more to say. She pretty much made up her mind already.

"What time should I pick you up?" Mark asked, changing the subject.

"I'll be there." He promised.

After that, they ate breakfast in silence, but she didn't mind. She focused entirely on eating without spilling anything. She drank another cup of peppermint tea and collected her things while Betty cleared the table. She put her heels back on and followed Mark out of the apartment. He placed an arm around her waist, keeping her close as they walked to his car. She knew he made sure she wouldn't break her neck while they traveled together, but he had nothing to worry about. She could run marathons with her heels. She never tried, but she was sure she could.

"I don't feel comfortable with you walking around in those heels when I'm not there."

"Why? Whenever we met I always wore basically the same outfit." She gestured to her outfit, "Black dress and high heels."

"Is that your uniform?"

"A polished outfit is the uniform."

Mark helped her into his car and walked around the hood, taking a seat behind the wheel. His car was nice, it smelled like he just bought the car and never used it before. She figured he didn't use his car that much. But she liked it. It also fits him quite well. Sleek and luxurious.

"You drive your car in those heels?"

He shot her a glare, "Jade, that's fucking dangerous."

It was the first time she heard him curse and it took her a while to respond.

"I've never been in an accident before."

"When you drive can you at least wear flats or something?"

She knew he only asked that of her because he was worried so she didn't protest. Normally she'd tell him not to tell her what to do. But he was asking out of concern so she nodded.

"I won't drive with my heels on." She promised.

"Thank you."

During her lunch break, Jade called her mother, needing to talk to someone about Mark and his weird behavior concerning her father. She knew her mother worshipped the ground Mark walked on, but she just neede

they belonged. Slipping out of her dress she tossed it on the bed and reached for her robe. She jumped when she heard the bedroom door close.

"Relax, it's nothing I haven't seen before." He brushed her off, walking into the closet and reaching for a black tee, "You shouldn't be ashamed either." She blushed when she felt his eyes scan over her body. She quickly shrugged her robe on and securely tied it around her waist, but he had seen everything already. Well, not everything since she wore her bra and panties.

"I'm not ashamed of my body." She told him, trying hard not to raise her voice, "But I'd love some more privacy."

"I'll see everything eventually."

She angrily pulled her hair up and secured it with a clip, "No, you won't."

He placed his beer bottle on the shelf next to his tees which were neatly folded and started to take off his jacket and tie. Tossing it carelessly on the empty one-seat, "We're getting married, Jade."

"So what?"

She knew what he was saying, but she was pissed so she was being unreasonable.

"So you'll let me see everything eventually."

She folded her arms across her chest, trying hard not to let his bare chest affect her. It did though. She couldn't get over the fact how toned he looked. He worked out, that much she could tell. He wasn't too build, but he wasn't scrawny either. She forced herself to look him in the eyes, but it took a lot of effort.

"Maybe I'll stay celibate."

She shouldn't have said that she could tell when his eyes darkened. She stepped back when he suddenly stepped toward her, running into the shelves behind her. She inhaled sharply when he reached for her, placing his hand on the back of her head while he leaned in. She pressed a hand against his bare chest, trying to hold him back. He didn't move though, instead, he pressed his lips against hers and kissed her. She tried not to kiss him back, she really did. But as she placed her other hand against his chest she couldn't help but run them up to his shoulders, loving the way his body reacted to her touch. She ran her hands over her biceps and tightly held on, tilting her head back to kiss him back. But as she got into it, Mark pulled away. Both of them catching their breath. His fingers gently rubbed the back of her neck, the soft touch making her shiver.

"You won't." He cockily told her.

Before she could respond he pulled away and shrugged his tee on, hiding his chest from her. He cleaned his mess up and walked out of the closet announcing something about being in his office to get some work done. She didn't respond nor did she move an inch. Her body betrayed herself when it came to Mark. If the tingling between her legs was something to go by she knew he was right.
