"It's coming straight for us!" The Corporal panicked.

"Yeah!" Tracey breathed, her mouth a little agape in awe. "Yeah… I think you're right!"

Tracey began to push against the vibrating ground with her feet, moving the idling hover-bike backwards a short distance while the frightening phenomenon rapidly closed in on them! The faint vibrations beneath their feet increased in strength as the apparition grew in size! Without the slightest hesitation, the terrified screaming troopers turned and fled, exiting stage right!

Suddenly, from stage left, a large very real metallic sphere that dwarfed them all, rumbled out of the darkness at a considerable speed, and steamrolled over the Jeepo with no more fuss than a brief crunch and a squeaky noise! At almost the same instant, the floodlight vanished under it in a quick shower of sparks! The mystery object streaked across the road, a blur, until it vanished again into the darkness.

Swallowing nervously, Tracey forgot all about her concealed pulse-rifle and put her right hand back on the handlebar. That was close!

A shallow trench had appeared in the road surface just a few meters in front of the bike, marking the trail of the mysterious object! Of the wannabe soldiers, there was no sign! Right then! She thought, Now or never!

She opened the throttle, revving the drive, and roared through what remained of the roadblock onto the dark open road ahead.

High in Deanna orbit, at least in terms of altitude, Timaset Skooch and company were enjoying the amusing sight of three small fascist warships doing some

us there. It's safe to land, there are no bad guys out that way yet! Just to be on the safe side, it's best you use the camouflage screen that was fitted to Celeste!"

"What the heck is going on, Mei? Camouflage screen?" Tim asked, more puzzled and frustrated than ever.

"Tell you later!" She replied maddeningly. "See you at the rendezvous! I have to talk to a guy about some handcuffs!"

Sergeant-major Luciferus Krant, the highest ranking warrant officer in charge of all the warrant officers and NCO's in the Deannan Republican Army, was not currently a very happy man. He'd been peacefully asleep in the former Governor's Palace, having commandeered one of the VIP guest bedrooms upstairs for himself, and the bed had been very comfortable indeed. It was something past one AM when he was roused by a frantic knocking on the door – which turned out to be a nearly hysterical Lieutenant a little younger than himself! The Lieutenant was the duty officer in the D.R.A.'s temporary OPS room – the former Governor's situation room that night.
