"You waiting for an invitation?" Blachart shouted at them, revving the motor. "Move it!"

"That's more like it!" Hanson growled, nudging Casey. "Cavalry's here – c'mon!"

The pair made a break for the car, and hurriedly piled in – Hanson jumped into the passenger seat beside Blachart, and Casey half fell over the side onto the back seat. By the time he realized he was sitting on top of the unconscious Mykl, the car was already tearing down the road. There were a lot of sirens in the distance.

"Man, I never thought I'd be happy to see you!" Hanson grinned at the Corsair. "How'd you find us?"

"Who could miss the hell you were raising?" Blachart quipped, smoothly changing through the gears. They sped around a corner and found themselves turning in behind a column of about ten black cruisers with lights flashing and sirens wailing, speeding to back up their buddies at the shopping mall!

"Shit!" Blachart swore, and looked for a turnoff. He picked one, skidded into it, and accelerated. Vrrrrm – vrrrrm the car went as he switched through the gears again. Hanson tapped him on the shoulder and pointed back at the cruiser that had followed them.

The car skidded round the next corner, the big black cruiser in close pursuit. Then, as they warped through a red light there was a huge bang behind them. The cruiser seemed to launch into the air, did a somersault spilling black figures, bounced and hit the road again in a ball of flames. Blachart looked in the rearview mirror and grinned as a motorcycle with a flashing blue light in its fairing, hit a piece of debris in the road, wobbled – and wrapped itself around a traffic light. He was always a man willing to app

e car zipped through a gap between two parked taxis, ramped over the sidewalk and smashed through a window into the terminal in a storm of flying glass fragments. The car shuddered a little, the tires chirping on the smoothly polished surface as he looked for a clear path to the other side. Not to be dissuaded, the cruisers followed them in, causing massive mayhem. Taxis and luggage were smashed aside as the bigger vehicles barreled through, glass and aluminum framing went flying, screeching pedestrians scattered, etc. Blachart drove on, honking the horn and avoiding bystanders while negotiating some clusters of rather heavy looking chairs. Then, after cutting a path of destruction through the spaceport terminal building, the little car launched through a wide archway that led onto the tarmac, the car bouncing rather hard as it landed. It was a fast ride across the tarmac. The engine, Mykl noticed, had a nice powerful, comforting note as it thrusted them smoothly to freedom and safety. The line of black ships rushed toward them. Bullets began cracking overhead from behind – their enemies were on them again!
