Amber's POV:

It was shocking, that guy mom was fighting is my brother. My brother. Where was he when I was born? In a sick way, I wanted to join in on the fun, beat him in his own game.

Why does my family have to be the way it is now? No one gets along. No one talks to each other and everyone is divided. It's crazy to see how everyone in your family lies to each other. Why do they do it? I get the protection part of it but it still hurts to be the last person to know about something that everyone else knows.

Suddenly, I smelt bacon. So, I went downstairs and as I get there, I saw Cameron shirtless. There were scars all over his back and his neck. I could tell that he's been through something worse than growing up without knowing you had a sibling. I wonder where they came from. Maybe I should ask him.

"Morning, " I said announcing my presence.

"Morning, sleepy head. Did you sleep well?" He asked, turning to me and taking the bacon out of the frying pan.

"Yeah, the bed was really comfortable."

"I'm glad that you liked it. Want some breakfast?" He offered.

"Sure. I'm starving and the food smells amazing."

"No problem. Can I ask you something?"

"Sure. What's up?"

"Where did all those scars come from?"

"Dad and when I was kidnapped, " he answered nonchalantly. Somehow, I could sense that they didn't mean anything to him.

"Can you tell me how you got them?"

"Dad was abusive and I rather not talk about how I got my other scars."

"Why not?"

"It's something I don't want to talk about right now. When you're older, you'll understand, " he stated, placing a plate full of food in front of me.

"So, when is this proposal happening?"

"This evening."

"Where is it going to be?"

"At my girlfriend's house but there's a beautiful garden in the backyard."

"Can I ask you something?"

"What was it like growing up with mom?"

"It was nice at times but sometimes it felt as if there was a missing piece to the puzzle. I grew up being curious. I wondered what it would be like if I had an older brother or sister. I would even ask her if had an older sibling and she would never answer me. Now that I know that I do have an older sibling, it's kind of cool."

"Now that I've met you, I feel like I have the responsibility to protect you even though you know how to protect yourself."

"Are you going to come to see me propose to my girlfriend later?"

"Yeah, I know we just met last night but it feels right to support you."

"Thanks. I need the support. I'm kind of nervous about it."

"Don't be. Just be the person that she loves."

"Thanks for the advice."

"No problem."

"You think you can handle being in the house by yourself?"

"Yeah, why?"

"Because I'm going to the gym in a few."

"Aren't you going to show me around the house first?"

Cameron's POV:

An hour later.......

After showing Amber around the house, I went to my room and changed into my workout clothes. Then I grabbed my protein shake. Suddenly, my phone rang so I answered it. It was Riley's Dad, Matt. I wonder what he wants.

"Hey, kid. I've got some good news for you."

"What is it, Matt?"

"The girls are on their way. Turns out they got an earlier flight so I sent my jet for them."

"That's great. The earlier, the better. After my workout, I'll come over and set up everyt

What's going on? Does she know what's going on right now?

"Mom, who are these for?"

"Why don't you follow the trail and find out?"

"Okay?" I was skeptical, instantly in defense mode.

I followed the trail with mom following behind me. The trail led to the backyard, and a small crowd of my family standing on the side smiling. I saw Carmen and Jamie, putting me in a state of shock. When did they- How did they-? Then I saw Cameron standing under the arch-shaped rose bush and continued following the trail. There, he reached into his pocket pulling out a small box. He then knelt down on his knee.

Then he got down on one knee. What the hell is going on? Is he about to propose to me? Oh my god!

"Riley, I can't imagine a life without you My life without you. Back in California, is where we first met, where we had so many firsts togethers. Everything was perfect until I made that mistske, leaving you back there, letting you suffer longer than I did. Since then, I couldn't bring myself to be the person I was whrn we reunited. I couldn't help the guilt that was eating me alive putting you through all that. This may sound like an apology but this isn't one. I won't apologize for the things I've done to you in the past. Words can't explain the love I have for you. So, I much rather show you. I love you and I'd be honor and lucky to have you spend the rest of your life with me. Will you marry me?"

Tears spilled down my face, as I responded nodding "yes". He placed the rock on my finger, rising up, cupping my face. He wiped my tears away, his lips meshed with mine. He pulled back, letting me breathe and held me close, staring into my eyes.

They cheered, some teary-eyed like me.

"Can someone propose to me like this?! So much goals right now!" I heard Carmen shout, applauding. They all appluaded.

Cameron took a glance back at her, turning his gaze back to me. "Let's go out of here."

Best night of my life.
