Greg lead me up a flight of stairs, above all the chaos below. There was a room with tinted windows and he slid a keycard through a lock. The door buzzed and he opened it, motioning for me to go through.

"Such a gentleman." I commented, smiling as I walked through. Inside, the room was painted black, black furniture, black carpet... Is there an obsession I'm missing?

A man was sitting in a chair, facing away from me.

"Boss." Greg greeted. The man in the chair swivelled around, facing us. He literally took my breath away. He was tan, brown hair that curled atop his head. His green eyes met my grey ones and he smiled.

"Faith!" He announced, smiling as he stood up to his height of at least 5'11". Well, I'm about 5'5", yay.

"Do I know you..?" I asked awkwardly.

"No, but you will." He said ominously. "I'm Darren, you can call me Dare."

"Oh." Was all I could manage. He approached me and stuck out his hand for me to shake. I reached for his hand, which was soft of course, and he shook my hand, but didn't let go. I looked up at him quizzically, but he was already walking away, with his hand in mine.

I was jerked forward and nearly fell over. I jogged to catch up and he brought me to the tinted window. "What do you see?" He asked, looking out at the havoc.

"Um, people dancing... Some fighting over-" Dare cut me off.

"Think more general." He told me, not looking at me.

"Uh, I see chaos?" I tried awkwardly, looking over at him.

"Interesting..." He murmured. "I've never gotten that answer before."

My eyebrows drew together in confusion before he released my hand and walked back to his desk. He took a seat in his chair and motioned for me to sit in the chair across from his desk.

I sat down, crossing my legs awkwardly.

"Do you know why you're here?" He asked me, folding his hands on the table.

"Not really." I replied honestly. Dare smirked at me and got up, then sitting the chair next to mine.

"Well, you're here because I saw you jump off the roof of a house." He stated, smirking at me, his green eyes glinting with mischief.

"Are you like some undercover fed? Look, I was just-" He cut me off for the second time.

"I'm not a cop, I doubt the cops could pull an elaborate scheme like this." Dare reasoned, looking me dead in the eye.

"I guess..." I said awkwardly. "But underestimating them is how they catch you."

"Well, if I ever get caught, it'll be for that." Darren laughed. It was cheery and amazing and I hated it. It was too perfect to be human. Anyway, focusing on whatever the heck is happening here...

"Wait, is this a prostitution ring? Oh god, I knew I shouldn't have gone down a back alley with a shady emo middle aged man- no offence Greg." I hurried out, Greg looking at me with an almost hurt expression. Dare was blank faced for a moment before her broke out into a fit of laughter. Trust me, I don't take the word 'fit' lightly.

Darren laughed so hard that he literally fall off his chair. I felt G

reg come up behind me and whisper, "I've never seen him laugh so hard before."

For some reason, I felt oddly proud. Weird. There's just something about make attractive people laugh that gives you a thrill. When Darren finally stopped laughing and came back to earth, he got back into his chair and wiped a tear from his eye.

"You are by far, the funniest person I've ever recruited." He chuckled, beaming at me.

"For the prostitution ring? Yeah, I'm not-" he cut me off.

"I'll just get rid of that idea right now because my stomach already hurts from laughing so hard." Dare told me, standing up and walking around his desk. He leaning back in it and picked up a trinket from his desk, playing with it. "We are D.A.R.E."

I waited, expecting him to say something more, but he only watched me expectantly. "I'm sorry, is that supposed to mean something to me?" I asked him somewhat awkwardly. He sighed and put the object down.

"Greg, I told you, we need to do more promos." Darren announced, looking over at the burly man.

"Yeah, but the cops are getting close, we gotta lay low." Greg reasoned, standing at the door.

"But this whole thing is about taking risks, what are we if not adrenaline junkies?" Darren asked rhetorically. My ears perked up at the mention of adrenaline and suddenly I was interested.

"So what's D.A.R.E?" I inquired, drawing their attention back to me.

"Well, sweetheart, " he began, sitting back down in his twirly chair. He spun around a few times, smiling to himself. "What are we?"

"I don't know, that's why I'm asking-"

"D.A.R.E is an non-profit organization of people who get kicks out of dangerous things." Darren explained, "That's pretty much it."

"... So what do you do?" I questioned further, crossing my legs comfortably. I looked out the window and watched the people partying below, is simply having a good time.

"Hang off cranes, ride bikes across rooftops, jump off roofs into pools." Darren smirked and I glared at him, crossing my arms over my chest.

"If you want me to join, you're going to have to be a little more convincing." I spoke with boredom, staring at my nails in fake interest.

"Well, you get paid." Dare said, smirking when my face lit up at the mention of money.

"How much?" I asked, uncrossing my legs as my foot went numb.

"Depends on the sponsor and the gig. It can range from 50-500$ a job, per person." He told me watching as my smile grew bigger. I looked back down at the people and wondered what the flaw was.

"What's the downside?" I squinted at him curiously.

"Well, no one can know you are apart of this, but that's about it." He shrugged, fidgeting with his fingers. I looked around, considering my options. I don't have a job, it's something a love, my boss is hot, and everyone seems to be enjoying themselves, right?

"Alright, where do I sign?"
