I sighed and went to the door again; it was past ten now but he wasn't home yet, why? It was beginning to rain and there was no sign of car lights in the far distance. It was so hot today that I had to open all the doors of the house which allowed cross-ventilation around the cottage but the rain had somewhat caused some cooling. After waiting for another half an hour, I got tired and decided to give up. I was closing the backyard door when I noticed a dark figure standing at a distance; Shehzad?

What was he doing standing in the rain—his back was facing me while his face was towards the sky. How did he come here while I was waiting for him at the main door? Did he walk here all the way from the helipad which was five miles away from the cottage?

"Shehzad?!" I called and immediately caught an umbrella that was standing by the post of the mantel piece and carefully strode to his side; he was absorbed in looking at the sky—his eyes clouded and placid. "Shehzad?" I mumbled and touched his arm. He was soaking wet and his hand was stone cold when I touched him. after a whole month of being away, I noticed that he had grown so thinner, his cheek bones were sticking out and his jaw was clenched prominently. And this time, there wasn't any stubble but a beard which made him look so much older and mature.

"Oh, " he slightly winced and looked at me with a surprised yet expectant gaze.

"What are you doing?" I inquired. He gazed into my eyes.

"I should be asking you the same thing."

"How did you get here? I was waiting for you." I said. He shrugged. "I felt like walking." He dismissed. "Though. . . . I should've known that you would've come running to me but I was half expecting it." he said in a deep husky voice that it my ears like soft music. God, I had missed him so much. Without thinking, I fell on his chest and grabbed him tightly, not caring that the umbrella had fallen from my hands and now I was soaking with him. He didn't react and just stood still. I got a hold of myself and when I looked at him, his eyes were low.

"What are you doing standing here? You're getting wet. Come on inside." I urged and pulled him by his arm but he didn't budge.

"Do you remember Khadijah. . . . We had our first ever moment in the rain. . . . You looked so beautiful, like a nymph dancing above a pool of water; you took my breath away at that time." He declared. I blushed deep crimson; did he really just say that? I never realized that.

"Alright but please come inside, do you want to get sick?!" I urged.

"No. . . . Just leave me be, " he sighed and closed his eyes.

"No, I know that you are too sensitive to the cold. Come inside." I insisted and pulled him inside with me. He wasn't reacting at all so I pushed him in the bedroom. I switched off the ceiling fans and air conditioners and grabbed all the towels from the bathroom when I saw myself in the mirror. My clothes were sticking to my body and my baby bulge was somewhat showing. I quickly covered myself with a towel.

Shehzad sat on the bed, unresponsive. I took a towel and rubbed in n his head so as to dry his soaking hair. I helped him take off his coat and shoes. The white shirt underneath was stuck to his toned chest so I removed it as well; helping out my husband after such a long time made me felt so fulfilled.

"Shehzad?" I said and touched his hand. Why was he so silent? Was he guilty of what he did or was he just lonely? Did he miss me even a little bit as much as I missed him? no, that's highly unlikely.

"Shehzad? Wh

at; but I had to learn that the hard way."

"That's what you taught me. . . . I learned to let go of that hate and thirst for vengeance that. . . I just cannot let go of that gift anymore." He confessed.

"Then don't." I whispered. "I will be here for you." I vowed.

He was quiet.

"It was. . . . Cassie's final prayer. . . I remember so well; she said to me that I pray that when I'm gone, God gives you the spirit to move on and I also pray that. . . . One day, you find the woman of your destiny who will love and cherish you and will give you proof of that love with every step that you will choose to take in your life, "

"I tried to reject that and denied that woman ever being you; that's why when I finally realized that you truly are the woman of my destiny; I wanted to get you as far away from me as possible because I think that. . . . I am cursed. Everyone who comes near me who I learn to love eventually leave me."

"No Shehzad. . . . Don't believe that. . . get that idea out of your mind."I prompted.

"But it's the truth, " he smiled wryly.

"So its best that you get away from me before I cause you any harm." he urged and let me go. It pained me so much to see him in so much torment and misery.

"Shehzad. . . . I believe that you are the man of my destiny and I yours......if you want proof than...." I brought his hand to my belly and made him feel the life inside of me. His face was a mask of utter shock as he sat frozen.

He slowly touched my belly until he laid his head in my lap and grasped me closely to himself.

"I'm sorry that I didn't tell you sooner but I wanted to tell you properly. Shehzad, in less than six months, we are going to have the first proof of our love and life together. I know that you don't feel the way that you did for Cassandra but Shehzad, I am here and I will always be by your side." I avowed. He was quiet as he stroked my stomach softly until he fell asleep on my lap. I smiled; it was so tranquil. After half an hour, I helped in back into bed and tucked him in.

I still needed to perform my prayers so I left the room.

I sure hope that after knowing this, he would forget about the divorce.
