A week passed and Shehryaar couldn't bring himself to face Anissa.

He engaged himself in so much work that he didn't get enough time to think about Anissa.

But he was too restless. He was in a constant need for stimulation.

So he sought alcohol. He wasn't that much of a drinker but since he didn't know how to handle his emotions, he would get drunk only so he couldn't think and get a few hours of sleep.

At day, he was the successful CEO of his company, while at night, he was the ruthless Mafia Boss. He spend most of his nights in the chambers, interrogating many of Azhar's men.

He only found some sense of rest in bloodshed.

The only time he completely forgot about Anissa was when he engaged himself in plunging blades into the bodies of his captives and mutilating them slowly and painfully ending their lives or when he was in a drunken stupor.

He never thought that he would be this dishevelled in his entire life.

He had no idea how to bring her back or how to fix her.

And he was desperate.

He wanted her back. Just didn't know how.

And his heart, the pumping organ in his chest, it ached every time he thought about his wife.

His wife.

Yes, she was his wife. He should've never taken that for granted. But his lack of understanding and poor relationship skills succeeded in making him grow obsessive and his selfish nature only fuelled that.

And for what? For the fleeting feeling of satisfaction that his plans were a success. That he broke the girl his twin fell in love with for nothing. She had no hand in it, hell, she didn't even know about it yet he sentenced her and punished her for a crime she had never even committed.

Just so his pride could be elevated and his ego could be boosted? Yes, that's exactly why he did it.

Then why this guilt?

It was all for himself.

He didn't know what to do. He had no idea how to handle emotional situations. That's why his own emotional responses were so impaired and blunted to the point of either overreacting or under-reacting.

A part of him was grateful that she wasn't around anymore. She was probably better off without him. But another part, the selfish and dominant part of his personality was only thinking about what he wanted. It didn't care what was in the best interest of Anissa.

He only thought about himself because he was being indirectly ignored by her. And he didn't want that. What he wanted was her attention, all of her.

But when she looked at him, he felt like she couldn't see him.

Couldn't hear him or even respond to him.

She was just a hollow shell of her former self.

And he couldn't take that.

But still, this heavy feeling in his chest wouldn't dissipate.

He had her by his side. She was his. Her body was his.

But that wasn't enough anymore.

He wanted her mind and her soul.

Why?

He had no idea. All he knew and understood was that it hurt h

e mentally said. But there was nothingness around her.

She gazed into his grey eyes and saw that they weren't grey: instead, the colour had changed and appeared to look like a mesmerising teal. As hundreds of emotions swam in those teal irises that made them lose their natural grey color, as if his emotions, his soul, was bearing out to her in a desperate plea.

His eyes reflected his hurt and restlessness almost as if he was suffering a lot.

"I know you're there." He whispered.

"Please, come back to me. Please." He said as he closed his eyes and rested his forehead against hers.

"Please, I want you back. Please meri Tara." He murmured, his thumbs gently caressing cheekbones, his breath warm and she could feel him shake slightly as he held her.

He's sorry? For hitting me? She thought.

Only that she didn't know what he actually was apologising for, for she had no memories of it.

"You were suppose to be my light. My bright shinning star. You were suppose to be my Tara, " he murmured, swallowing hard as he felt an unfamiliar emotion wash over him as his heart ached hard. But the heaviness didn't go away.

"I know you're there, " he murmured again and opened her eyes as he breathed in deeply.

"I just know. And I'll find you, " he gazed into her eyes hard with a determined look that caused the teal of his eyes to turn back into grey.

"I'll fix you and I'll bring you back." He avowed softly as his lips met with still ones again.

"I'll bring you back. I swear. And when I know you're with me, I'll tell you everything. The truth." He murmured.
