Elijah POV

One day earlier...

It was late in the afternoon and I was at my shift at Sunset Jazz. Today, I'm excited to take Monica on a night-picnic date for dinner at Ocean Drive.

So far, dating with Monica has been great. We've channeled our love to each other in a way of happiness and with laughter. It's been refreshing trying to be out there once again, and I must say I really should give props to Keith who encourages my shy self to Monica.

It worked.

And now, I am willing to wait what the future holds between us and conquer our world with each other, once and for all.

Leaving work, it was eleven-fifteen p.m. when I called Monica to let her know that I'll be picking her up at her place in fifteen minutes.

On my way back, I went to my apartment, cleanse myself then slide into my casual clothes and went out to the door.

To CVS, I was able to purchase some snacks, a stuffed ladybug, and a red rose for Monica. It is a bit ironic how she likes Ladybugs just like Jade. But, it didn't phase me a bit knowing that I cared for her, willing to do anything that made her happy.

To Monica's place, I managed to park my car in the reserved parking lot with Monica's apartment number. I got out of the car and went my way to the apartment that marked "105".

Knocking lightly, I heard a hardcore trap music in the background as I heard a deep moaning in the back.

My brows arched in a irk way knowing that it sounds like a grown man giving pleasures to Monica.

With force, I banged on the door numerously to get her attention. The music stopped playing and I could hear the murmurs in the front door which made me very agitated to all of the sudden I could hear the two whispering to each other.

I banged the door again and finally, the door opened and it was Monica standing there with a bra and shorts, scared to see me standing in front of her.

"Elijah...., " she whispered.

"What the fuck is going on?!" I barked, my eyes target her and I saw a guy who was the same height as me picking up his clothes from the floor.

I scoffed loudly and turn around walking in a pace motion to my car.

"Elijah! Elijah, wait! Wait!" Monica said, jogging her way to me. She tried to place her hands on my face for me to look at her but I pushed them back densely and gave her that blank stare.

"Get the fuck off of me!" I yelled.

She whimpered. Moving her lips around as tears flown down on her face.

"I'm sorry, " she said.

"Elijah... it's not easy."

"Easy? The fuck does that even mean? You mean to tell me that it was not easy for you to get back with your ex-boyfriend? The one who put you t

"You good?" I asked.

"Yeah, I'm trying to be, " he whispered.

"I can't believe he's gone."

"I know me too. He didn't deserve to die. He was a good friend, a brother to us."

"Yeah, definitely. I'm going to miss him so much."

He took a deep breath and replied: "Have you seen Jade?"

"No, not yet. I came here first to check up on him, and you."

"Me? Really?"

"Yeah, despite our feud, I thought it would be nice.."

"E, I'm so sorry for accusing you.."

"— Jay, it's alright. It's okay. I forgive you."

"You do?"

"Yes. You know my mom always talked about forgiveness when it comes to you. Always nag to me how it is important, that I shouldn't hold this burden inside of me. And I finally realized that she is right. I want to move forward, I want to continue to flourish and grow.

I know we never talked about the incident and that's okay. How I felt then is very different from how I feel now. What you did was horrible, and I know I was horrible for threatening you but I'm willing to forgive and move on this crap that separated us."

"You've always been a good person and I missed that feeling, being around a wise person like you E."

"That's cause we're brothers, I still care for you man, I do. Look at our tattoos." We both showed off our wrists together revealing the matching tattoo that we had printed out OHANA in capital letters with a Hawaiian flower in the bottom.

"Ohana, " he whispered.

"It means family and—"

"—Family means nobody gets left behind or forgotten."

We both did our brotherly handshake and hugged each other, rocking back and forth. I could feel Jacobs tears on my shoulder as I was tearing up on his.

"I'm here for you man, " I whispered.

"I'm here for you too, " he whispered back.
