Elijah POV

Thanksgiving {part.2}

"Elijah, you're here!" Said my cousin Diane, she came to me with open arms smiling hard to see me. Diane and I are the close ones in the family. With Diane, I see her as my own sister, though, Erica is my stepsister, I have a deeper connection with Diane.

Diane has this tomboy, carefree, and very blunt personality that I like. She and I went to school together back in Gulf Coast, when she was a senior and when I was a sophomore.

But when we moved, she went off to a different school than North Port as I was left alone with my step-sister for the remainder of my high school years.

"Dee!" I said hugging her and rocking back and forth.

"hvordan har du det? [ how are you?]"

"I'm good and you?"

"Good too."

"Is Erica here?"

"No, she said she couldn't make it. Her flight was delayed. But, do you need help with the bags?"

"Uh, no. I'm okay, I got this."

"Okay, whatever you say." Diane left me alone by myself at the trunk. After getting my belongings, I went inside the house and met up with the rest of my family.

In the living room, it was Diane, my mom, my grandfather, my twin cousins Alex and Andy and my aunt Marie.

My mom came to me with a huge smile on her face. She kissed me on the side of my cheek, forehead and continued to hug me tight.

"Ma, you're squeezing me!" I said, muffling on her shirt as she continued to squeeze me with happiness.

"I'm sorry, " she said in her accent. My mom may have a slightly broken English, but I always knew what she was saying to me.

I'm actually happy that she is trying to learn English to increase her vocabulary and to communicate with me at times.

"It's okay, ma." I went around the house and said my greeting to everyone. Then, I went to my old room and begin to unpack my stuff before heading out to eat dinner.

At dinner, everyone was talking about a family friend who was passed away last week.

Honestly, I didn't know who the woman was but I have known she was a good friend to my mom since she was very talkative about them.

My grandfather announced at the dinner tha

ld feel my face turning red and my eyes floating with tears streaming down on my cheek.

''I could tell. You were always talking about her when we moved here in North Port. Elijah, my advice to you is that as painful as this process can be, these feelings will lessen, and there are things you can do to help yourself get through this challenging period. You should be patient with yourself as you cope with these changes and try to accept what you are feeling as it comes, rather than telling yourself what you "should" or "shouldn't" be experiencing.''

''How do I know if I have the chance with Jade?'

''Trust me, you'll know. But for now, you have to isolate yourself. Focus on you, try to mend your emotions because right now you're at a stage of heartbreak, and going back to Jade immediately isn't going to fix because she is also going through a stage of heartbreak and I don't think that's not going to make you happy, cause trust me I've been there."

''I wish I didn't have to end this.''

''Come here, '' she whispered. I came closer to her and placed my head on her shoulders as tears continued to stream down on my face. I was sniffing roughly, breathing heavily, letting out my emotions that I've bottled up since the breakup.

Honestly, it felt good to let it all out, I felt free from blocking away the emotions.

''It's going to be okay E, it's gonna be okay, '' Diane whispered.
