M e y | 13: Mundane Monday

The one thing I liked about Monday was the extracurricular right after school's ended. I loved reading books but sadly Carlton didn't have a reading book club, however, they did have writing club, which was the next best thing. It was held in the common room on the second floor. Instead of stiff chairs, we had sofas and a long reclining chair.

When Carlton encouraged students to follow their dream and do what their passionate about, the school really went overboard in providing the best facilities and types of equipment. We had over five fields --such as football fields, basketball court, hockey field, and other sports field--three gyms, one swimming pool, and about twenty rooms devoted for club and extracurricular activities.

I was sitting nearby the window, taking a break from reading the newest Harry Potter books: Harry Potter and The Cursed Child, when I saw Koltin wandering and about the door. "Koltin!" I called him. He looked surprised to see me. "Get over here, silly!" I waved him to come inside and join me. "They're working on outlines or homework before the club time begins, " I pointed at a few students who were concentrating on their laptops.

"What's up Mey? How are things?" he asked as he took a seat in one of the long chairs.

I slipped the bookmark in between pages and put the book inside my bag. "Oh, nothing much." I saw no point in hiding my dilemma since he knew about it over lunch this afternoon so I quickly added, "but you know Autumn." I let out an exhaustive sigh.

"In the thick of the drama?"

"Probably worse." I let out a deep sigh.

"Well then, " said Koltin, "remind me to pray for her I guess."

"How's Hunter going?" asked him after a while.

I stiffened a little. "I don't know about him." Talking about Hunter gave me weird emotion which I didn't quite understand. Was it possible that I missed him? "He kinda tried to cover for Ty, you know?" I added as I shook those annoying thoughts to the back of my head.

"Oh, okay, " said Koltin with a grin creeping in, "you need me to kick him then?"

I used to see him lately, hanging out with him, and all of sudden he was gone. So yeah, maybe I did miss him. Not as much, maybe just a little. A tiny bit.

I glanced at Koltin, he looked like he was waiting for me to say something. "What?" I frowned. What was his question again? Oh. Why would I want him to kick—"Oh! Kick him thrice for me please." I grinned as I remembered that we were still talking about what Hunter did: making Villain X hurt Norma instead of me. We both laughed.

Koltin grinned. "Consider his crotch pulverized."

I noticed that Mr. Lewis, our teacher, just entered the room. "Good evening, kiddos."

He told us that he'd assign us to

us to hear what she'd say. "You're an idiot, Hunter Jones, " she said it with a giggle. "I didn't misunderstand anything."

"Huh?" I was so confused.

She took a deep breath and let it go. "I was mad. My friend, Norma, was pushed down the stairs by Villain X and I couldn't help but remember what you said to Tyler the day before. I blamed myself for what happened to her and I blamed you for trying to protect me by telling Tyler to harm my friends instead, " she paused and gave me a weak smile. "I'm sorry about what I said."

"Mey, I don't care about that. You're just saying things to get back at me, I get it, " I tried to calm her down. I hated seeing her in distress.

She shook her head. "No, it's the truth, actually. I tried to be friends with you so I could get info about Tyler and Villain X. I saw you and him in the alley so I figured you probably know what he was up to."

"What alley?" I wasn't the type of guy who liked lurking in the alley. They stunk because there were so many dumpsters around.

"Besides Poirot. I saw your car and the car Ty used to drive Autumn. Anyway, " she licked her bottom lip nervously, unintentionally dragged my eyes to it. Damn. I really wanted to kiss her. "I'm sorry. Do you still want to be my friend? If you don't, I totally understand." She slouched against her chair and dropped her gaze on the floor.

Was she serious? When I came here, I was prepared to beg her on my knees for her forgiveness, asking her for another chance. Yet, here she was, not exactly on her knees but, telling me how sorry she was. Seemed like I didn't need Felix after all.

Giving her my most charming smile, I put one finger below her chin and lifted it up until her eyes met mine. "Of course I want to be your friend. You're Hermione to my Ron and Tonks to my Lupin, how can I say no to you?"

Mey smiled and when I reached my hand to hold her hand, she didn't pull away.
