?? I will not be anyone's half time, down time, spare time, or sometimes. So don't waste my time. ??

It was barely three P.M. and I was hanging at Le Shack, minding my own business, when someone decided it was time to disturb me. She came stomping her way to my peaceful corner, a couch nearby the pool table. The sound of heels hitting the wooden floor made me lower my book and groan internally.

Nat stopped right in front of me, her legs were almost touching mine. "We need to talk, " was all that she said.

I barely gave her one glance as I went back to focus on the book in my hands. She interrupted me while I was getting to the fun part: First Battle of Hogwarts. "I have nothing to say to you, " I responded.

"Hunter, I'm serious." She sounded like she was trying to hard not to explode. Whatever this was, seemed like it was really mattered to her. Unfortunately, I wasn't in the mood for listening to her nonsense or even enjoying her presence. Not when I was so close to finishing Harry Potter series, not when I was so close on fluently speak Potterheads.

She was quiet for a moment. I could feel her eyes making a hole in my face. She plopped down on the couch, right next to me. Her side, from her arm all the way to her leg, rubbed against mine. "What are you doing?"

"Reading, " I answered curtly and shifted to my right, giving our bodies enough space. I wished I had a wand to send her far away or maybe used Apparate to transfer myself anywhere but here.

"You read?" She sounded surprised.

I chose to ignore her because I knew if I were to say something, it would be something sarcastic like 'and you pointing out the obvious is what, helpful?' or maybe 'don't you have eyes or are those marbles you stick on your eye sockets?'. I hated being mean but what I hated even more was when people bothered me when they could clearly see that I was in the middle of something.

I felt her hand on my thigh. "Hunter, can we please talk?" Her voice sounded so desperate that almost didn't sound like her at all. I took a note of the page number and put the book aside.

"What's up?" I turned to face her and that was when I saw bruises on her left cheek. "What happened?" I slid my gaze up to her eyes.

Her eyes welled up. "He's back, " her voice was barely a whisper. "My dad. He'

choice but to make an introduction. "Mey, this is Nat."

My blunt Ex decided that it was time to talk shit and opened her big mouth, "Are you his new girlfriend?"

"Nat, this is Mey." I clenched my jaw, trying so hard not to get pissed. After all, she had just experienced something awful, maybe that set her off the edge. "My friend, " I quickly added.

"Oh, " muttered Nat as she gave Mey a once-over. "Hi, sorry for that, " she offered her hand. It was typical Nat to say sorry just for the sake of saying it, her face didn't look sorry at all. "I'm the ex, so I'm a little curious about his next conquest if you know what I mean."

I turned to face her and gave her a warning look. "Nat."

"Sorry, " she rolled her eyes. "It's nice to meet you, Mey." She touched my arm as she said, "I'm gonna get grab some drink. You want some?" I shook my head as I couldn't wait for her to leave.

We watched her walked her ass off to the bar. "So, what's up?" I turned and put my smile back on. "What do you want to talk about?"

Mey dropped her gaze to the ground and took a deep breath. When she finally looked me in the eye, there was something different, her stare was cold as ice. She looked at me the same way she looked at strangers and when she spoke, her voice matched the coldness in her eyes. "It's not really a talk. I'm here to set things right."

I began to worry. Something was clearly off but I couldn't pinpoint what. "What is it, Mey?"

"I'm not your friend, Hunter. I was just using you."

Her words hurt me harder than a thousand knives.
