NATALIA'S BODY trembled as she forced herself not to recall that most dreadful day. But those eyes, those green eyes that almost reflects her own haunts her. She fought to bury the memory she have sworn to forget. But even as she forcibly closed her eyes, she could still feel her gaze on her.

"Talia...wake up! You're shaking. Here, drink this." It had always been that way. She craved for something that she shouldn't. Her addiction sets her apart from the other orphans at St. Benedict's. That is the same reason why she was always returned whenever she's adopted, because of her illness or curse as the nuns call it.

"Ela, we can't keep on doing this..."

"Shhh...don't worry about it. I've got you as long as you've got me too. I just hope the next time you'll be taken from here, I could go with you." Talia sighed and resumed to sip, trying to ignore the nagging feeling at the pit of her stomach.

"We could pass as twins and the nuns knew that but still, they wanted to keep us apart." She looked around the dimly lit room of the barn where they kept her friend. She sneaked inside to bring her food and beverage but she ended up consuming some of the ration.

"It's because they're afraid of us and our potential." Her eyes darkened in anger. She saw her look at the red marks on her legs that served as a reminder of her disobedience and impertinence. Ela had always been her shield and she was being punished for protecting her from two of the orphanage's bullies.

"Where do you think he is now?"

"Let's not think about him. It was alm

n the middle of the night. He peered at their daughter who was fast asleep and decided to go look for Natalia. He's at the stairs when he heard her sobs. In his haste to reach her, his stealthy moves failed, alerting Talia that he's there.

"Sebastian..." His throat felt constricted as he saw her crying and trembling. She was hugging herself with her right arm while the other was leaning on a chair for support.

"Hey, baby, what's wrong?"

"Who's the girl in the picture? Where is she now?"

"She's Micaela Carlisle. Martha and Paul's daughter. She was kidnapped when she was four years old and they never saw her since."

"Do you know if she has an illness?" He felt confused by the weirdness of her questions but he chose to answer to make her feel better.

"I'm not sure. We can ask her parents...but for now, let's go back to bed. It's too early to wake up our hosts for a chitchat." He wanted to cheer her up but it didn't work. Whatever it is that made her cry, it was something big that maybe even he could not mend.
