Killian collapsed next to me. I was gasping like a fish out of water, embarrassingly exhausted. Killian was breathing hard too, but I didn't think it was from exertion. My body was still buzzing as we nestled against each other, slick with sweat. Killian brushed my hair away from my face for the hundredth time, taking my mouth much more softly than when we had begun but still roughly, possessively.

I would never admit it, but I didn't feel the need to try and dominate our kiss. I simply let him lead me, participating as enthusiastically as I could. His fingers, still firm, stroked my bare skin, leaving me shivering in anticipation of another round.

We hadn't made love. It wasn't soft or gentle. We had fucked, good and hard. Afterwards, though, I had been bombarded with emotions I'd never felt before. As my mate had wiped the sweat from my face for me, tucked my hair behind my ears, cleaned me up with a warm, wet cloth... I could do nothing but stare at him with adoration and love. No one had ever cared for me before.

"What's wrong, love?" Killian asked, his face masked with worry. "Are you hurting?"

I realized I had tears in my eyes. I brushed the stupid things away gruffly.

"I..." I couldn't speak my thoughts. "I've never had sex in a bed before, " I confessed instead.

That was close enough.

A myriad of emotions played out across his face: rage, pity, a second of anguish, hurt, and finally, sadness.

"I'm sorry, baby, " he whispered.

"For what?" I sniffed. "I've told you a hundred times, I'm not ashamed of who I am. I did what I had to do."

"I should have been there for you, " he murmured half to himself. "I waited so many years for you to come to me. I should have went searching for you, dammit!"

"It doesn't matter anymore, " I insisted, reaching up to run my fingers through his hair.

I whisked up some wind to help cool us down. Killian smiled at that.

"I never asked you, love. Now that you know how to control your gifts..." he glanced at me from under his eyelashes, shy. "Do you like them?"

Did I? They had caused me to go half insane, but I knew what they meant now. And, like he said, I knew how to use them. I was slowly mastering each and every element.

"I love them, " I answered. My palm caressed his cheek, conveying both meanings of my words.

"I love you too, Mia, " he replied, understanding.

A tentative knock caused Killian to throw his body over mine, shielding me and my nakedness. I rolled me eyes, simply pulling the blanket over us.

"Somebody better by dying, or you're going to be, " Killian hissed.

"Peel yourself off of her, Killian, " Seth called through the door. "We have company."

"Who the hell is it? I'll meet them later." He shifted so he sat behind me, pulling my back to his chest. His lips found my shoulder and neck.

"She'll be bursting through your wall any minute."

My mouth dropped open. "Who can break these walls? I want to meet—"

A golden stream burst through the side of the wall. I stared at it incredulously. As I looked closer, I realized that it was actually a bar of music notes. Soft music began playing out of nowhere, filling the room with the gentle melody that could have been the most soothing lullaby I ever heard if I had anything to compare it to. The endless bar of notes swirled around and around in a tiny tornado a couple of feet away from me.

I went to get closer, but Killian held me back, shaking his head warningly. I continued studying the shimmering twister as it solidified into something else: a music box. A beautiful figurine of a ballerina poised on her toes stared back at me lifelessly. The base and knob of the tiny antique was painted the same golden color as the stream of music that had formed it.

I jumped when the knob turned as if by invisible fingers. The porcelain ballerina, with blonde hair in a tight bun and a pink dress, turned with the music, dancing to it. Killian was completely enthralled by this little music box. I continued watc

e sound, she was the music, and then the gold bar danced out the window, towards the others that were sparring during the last of the day's light, soaking up every bit of twilight they could.

"Salvador?" Killian called, slipping out from behind me and kissing me again before searching the floor for a pair of shorts.

"Yes?" The door inched open until my mate's lethal snarl caused the wolf to slam it close again while I tugged the bedsheet around my chest more securely.

"Call a meeting for the speakers of each species, " Killian ordered harshly. "They will be able to pass on the news to the individual groups they represent."

"Yes, my King."

"Open my door without permission again, and I may not be here to warn you of your death wish, " he snapped, glancing at me. Or rather, my bare shoulders that made his topaz eyes burn brighter with lust.

"Understood, my King."

"Dismissed, Salvador."

"Thank you!" I called, throwing a disapproving look at my bad-mannered mate.

Salvador's boisterous laughter brought a smile to my face and a scowl to Killian's.

"Get dressed, " he huffed. "And don't smile for him like that."

"Are you kidding?"

"No, you need to be there at the meeting just as badly as everyone else." He didn't even look up from zipping his jeans.

"I meant about smiling when Salvador makes me happy."

"You don't smile at me like that, " he sulked, roughly tugging on his boots.

"You're an idiot, " I deadpanned. "Where am I right now?"

He glanced at me now, a hint of a smirk tilting his lips. "My bed."

"Am I clothed?"

A grin stretched across his face. "No." He was overly pleased about his answer.

"Do I let anyone other than you kiss me?"

"No, " he sighed. "Sorry, love."

"Whatever, " I sighed, getting up. I didn't make it two steps before my back was pressed into the sheets once again, still warm from our recent occupation. My lips were occupied before I realized what was happening, scattering my thoughts.

"You told me to get dressed, " I reminded him.

"I called the meeting, " he murmured distractedly. "It starts when we get there."

"Good point, " I praised. I yanked off the clothes he'd just donned.

"Glad you see it my way, " he chuckled.
