I cursed at the monster who tried to wake me up. It was pure evil whenever somebody tried to force me to wake up. Why couldn't they just let me get some peace?

"Bri, wake up. It's almost 9:00 a.m. you need to apologize to Dash. Come on, wake up, I don't want him torturing you." Tracey's voice made me curse the world's existence as she shook me awake.

"Let me sleep. And you know I am not apologizing to him. So leave me alone, " I grumbled, not bothering to open my eyes.

"That is not the only reason I'm telling you to wake up. Parents are downstairs, a few of them are planning to get their children out of Burswick, " she replied.

My eyes popped open and I jolted up in surprise. "What? Is my dad here? Are your parents here?"

"No, your father is not here; and I talked to my parents an hour ago. I told them everything is fine so they don't have to come here. But yeah, parents are wary of their children studying here because of what happened to Janice, " Tracey answered.

I was not going to lie, I was disappointed to know that my father once again refused to give me any importance. But I was glad Tracey was with me. Hopefully my father cared enough to call me in order to check on me.

"So, will the Headmaster close down the school?" It would suck eggs if Burswick was shut down; I loved studying here, it was a great school.

Tracey shook her head. "No, I don't think so. He is even trying to convince the parents to let their kids stay."

"This is bad. We should go have breakfast and then we can try and figure out who killed Janice. We need a list of suspects, " I stated.

"Yes, we can do that, or you can go and apologize to Dash. I don't want you to go through the ten semesters. God knows what he will do to you, " she suggested.

"I told you before, I am not going to apologize to him. He should be the one apologizing to me. So he can take his threats and shove them up his nose. I have more important things to deal with, like trying to find out who killed Janice so we can solve her murder and I can go back to studying. My father will be furious if he finds out I'm neglecting my studies, " I uttered, running a hand through my hair, wincing slightly when I accidently touched my pimple.

Stupid pimple, I hate you so much!

"God, you worry way too much about your studies, " Tracey complained, flopping down on her bed.

"You know why I do. My dad will kill me if I get bad grades, " I replied, hating that my father wasn't cool like other parents and let me relax when it came to academics.

"You take his threats way too seriously. My parents threaten to disown me as well, but I know they are kidding." Tracey rolled her eyes.

I was just about to retort when a knock on the door stole our attention. Tracey gave me a puzzled look, no doubt thinking the same thing as me: who could be here at this time? She got up from her bed and walked towards the door to open it.

"Who is it?" Tracey asked.

"It's me Dash, open up. I am ready to hear my apology." Came a deep, faimilar voice that no doubt belonged to my tormenter.

Tracey shot me a look full of terror and I motioned with my hands that I was sleeping. Then I flopped back down and pulled the covers over my head, pretending to sleep.

"Brielle is sleeping, Dash, why don't you come back later, " Tracey said.

"Bullshit! I know she is not sleeping. Open the door before I kick it open, " he threatened. Jeez, violent much!

"You know, you're a guy, you're not allowed to be in the girls dormitories, " my best friend stated.

"Nobody gives a fuck about the rules. Open the door now!" Dash's voice got louder, and my heart begged me to protect it by hiding it in a safe place.

I clamped a hand over my mouth to prevent any sound of escaping when I heard the snick of the lock being turned followed by the dreadful sound of the door opening.

"Where is she? I am ready for my apology, " Dash demanded.

"Can't you see, she is still sleeping. Come back later. Actually, don't come back at all, you are obviously not allowed to be here; why didn't anyone stop you from entering the girls dormitories?" I could hear the annoyance in Tracey's voice, and I prayed that she would be able to kick him out.

"Everybody is busy trying to protect the reputation of this school, so no one cares where I go. Which is why it was so easy for me to come in here. And I am not leaving until shortcake apologizes to me, " Dash answered.

"Shortcake?"

"Your best friend, Bri, " Dash explained.

"You can use her name, you know; that's what it is for."

"No thanks. I don't have time to call people by their given names. I'm here for my apology. Come on, shortcake, wake up." I felt my bed dip before Dash's scent crawled under my sheet and up my nostrils. Why did he have to smell so good? I wanted him to stink so my mouth would stop watering and yearning to go near him.

It took everything in me not to get up and pummel Dash until he fell unconscious when he shook my body, making me wonder if there was an earthquake.

"Come on, wake up. I'm bored and I want you to apologize to me. It's fifteen minutes past nine, you are late, shortcake. So get up." Dash shook me harder, and I could no longer pretend to sleep like the dead. I threw the covers aside and sat up, glaring at him.

"What do you want? Tracey, call Mrs. Lemons here, tell her to kick this guy out, " I ordered my best friend, not taking my eyes off Dash, who looked a lot better than he did last night.

"I want my apology and don't you dare leave the room, Tracey, " Dash replied. Tracey looked between Dash and I, torn between whose command to follow.

"Tracey, I am your best friend. You do as I say, go and call the Headmaster here." I told her.

"If you want your best friend to live then you will not leave this room, " Dash stated.

"What the hell? Why are you threatening to kill me? I think you killed Janice, and now you are out to kill me." I stood up on my bed. "Help! Help! Somebody help me! The new asshole is out to get me! Help! Headmaster he—"

"Shut up and get down here you little sponge cake." Dash grabbed my leg and yanked me down, causing me to fall on my butt. Thank the Lord I fell on the mattress, otherwise I would've broken my hipbone.

"Sponge cake." Tracey giggled and Dash and I shot her a look that told her to shut up.

"What is the matter with you? Why can't you leave me alone?" I growled at Dash.

"As much as I want to leave you alone because of your disgusting morning breath, I am here for my apology. Now start, I don't have much time. I have things to do, " Dash commanded.

"I am not apologizing to you, " I stated, crossing my arms in my front of my chest.

His blue eyes narrowed, causing my heart to pull the curtains down an

d hide behind them. "You know what will happen if you don't apologize to me, right?"

"I don't care about your threats. You cannot hurt me, because if you do then I shall complain to the Headmaster." I told him.

"What are you, six? Grow up, shorty, nobody tattles anymore, and fight your battles like a woman, " Dash mocked.

"Get out of my room." I pointed at the door for emphasis.

Instead of getting up and leaving, Dash let his body drop on my bed. "Nopes. Not until you apologize for framing me. Hurry up, I told you I have things to do."

"What things?" Tracey asked while I was too busy killing him in my head.

"Oh just some things you little girls shouldn't be concerned about, " he replied, acting all high and mighty.

"We are not little girls, " I argued.

"Yes, you are. You still tattle on others, and that's something only little girls do, " he countered.

I huffed. "I don't tattle!"

"You just said you'll tell on me, " he defended.

"Well I didn't mean it. I will not tattle on you, but I will not apologize to you either. Now tell me what is it that you have to do?" I questioned, curiosity getting the better of me.

"Why would I tell you? I don't trust you, shortcake, " Dash said.

"You can trust her, I assure you. She is a very good secret keeper, " Tracey said.

"Forget it, I'm not telling you guys. Last chance, shortcake, will you apologize to me or not?" Dash enquired.

I shook my head. "No, I will not. You can make me suffer but I will not bow down to you."

"Alright then, but just remember, you asked for this." He stood up. "I will see you in class."

"You can't leave yet. You have to tell us what you plan to do." Tracey grabbed his shirt's sleeve, halting him in his tracks.

"Why are you so keen on finding out what I plan to do?" Dash asked, shaking his head in disbelief.

"Because you sound suspicious. It's like you're planning to do something not many would approve of, " Tracey observed.

"Well aren't you a little detective, " he mocked in return.

"Shut up and tell us what you are planning to do otherwise you are not leaving this room, " I stated.

"Oh, that will be a dream come true; being held against my will in a room with two girls. Yeah, wait till I tell the guys about it. Hey, can I call a couple of friends over as well. Then you can hold all of us here against our will." God, why did guys have to be such perverts?

"You are despicable! And so utterly gross, " Tracey remarked.

"Will you let go of my sleeve, the guys are waiting for me." Dash tried to shrug out of Tracey's grip, but failed miserably. At this point I was proud to say that my best friend had a death grip.

"You're not leaving until you tell us, " I said.

Dash groaned before letting out a frustrated sigh while running a hand through his hair. "Fine, the boys and I are going to find out who killed Janice."

Tracey and I shot each other a look before I jumped out of bed and grabbed Dash's other arm. Dash looked at us like he was stuck in hell and we were the two demons who had been sent down to punish him.

"You cannot leave. You have to tell us what you know about Janice's murder. Let's make him sit down, Tracey, " I said to my best friend before we started to drag Dash back towards the bed. I hated the fact that he was so heavy, or maybe he was just trying to make this extra hard for us.

"Why will I tell you anything about her? The boys and I are going to handle it, you just worry about the pain I will inflict on you, " Dash responded.

I rolled my eyes at his confidence. He actually thought he could inflict pain on me? If he hurt me, then I would hurt him back. I would not allow him to get away with this.

"Look, it is absolutely crucial that you tell us everything you know regarding Janice's murder." Tracey told him.

"And why is it crucial?" Dash stared Tracey down, willing her to divulge her secrets.

"We can't tell you." I bit my lip, hoping it was good enough for Dash. But of course, I was mistaken.

"If you won't tell me then I won't tell you." He shrugged.

"He is right, Bri. If we want information from him we have to give information in return." Tracey looked at Dash. "Bri and I are investigating Janice's murder. So, we need to know everything, including whatever it is that you know."

"You two actually think that you will be able to solve this murder?" Dash questioned, doubt swirling in his blue eyes.

Tracey shrugged. "We are going to do our best."

"If you want, the boys and I can help you. We can solve this murder together, " he offered.

"No way, absolutely not. He is just going to sabotage our investigation, " I protested.

"Come on, Bri, I'm sure that is not true. Dash is here offering his help, and we can use all the help we can get, " Tracey replied.

"Yeah, learn to trust a little, sponge cake, " Dash agreed.

"Would you stop calling me sponge cake! And why are you so interested in solving Janice's murder? What do you hope to achieve out of it?" I asked Dash.

"Not me, but my friend. Janice was his girlfriend and he will not stop until he catches the murderer. So I am helping him out, " he answered.

"Who is that friend?" Tracey asked.

"If you two will let go of my arms, I will call him over and he can explain everything, " Dash said.

Both of us removed our hands immediately. "Thank you, " Dash mumbled before pulling out a cellphone from his pocket.

"You have a phone!" Tracey looked shocked. We weren't allowed to have cellphones on campus. The Administration confiscated our phones everytime we arrived after our vacations.

"Of course. The one I gave to the Administration was a decoy, " Dash paused before he said, "Yeah, hey Ben, where are you? Same place? Good, come on in." He hung up, and a second later there was a knock on te door. "That's Ben, let him in."

"How did he get here so quickly?" I asked.

"He was with me. I told him to wait outside while I dealt with you, " Dash answered.

Tracey opened the door and allowed Ben to enter. He was nearly as tall as Dash with ginger hair and gray eyes. He was a little more on the muscular side as compared to Dash, but he was cute.

"Who are they?" Ben asked Dash, eyeing the two of us.

"That's Tracey." Dash pointed at my best friend. "And this Brielle, my girlfriend."

"Girlfriend?! Wh—what are you saying?! I'm not you girlfriend!" I screeched, bewildered.

Dash leaned his head close enough to whisper in my ear. "You are as of now. Welcome to the ten semsters, shortcake."

Oh hell no!
