Call me whatever you want, but I am going to Big Lots again. I did wait until the weekend, I don't know if Grecia is working today, and it's not like I don't have anything to buy there, so it's not too creepy. Mom needs napkins because apparently, we have visitors later tonight. I don't even know who they are. Mom says they are family, but I am not sure about that. Also, Brianna's and my eighteenth birthday is coming up in November so I have to buy her a present. So, I will be busy at Big Lots. What's good about this, is Lenny has to visit his grandparents at a home and George is going to be with his father over the weekend, so they will not be there when I try, yet again, to speak to Grecia, that is if she is even going to be there. I feel good, I brushed my hair, put some mousse on (I had no gel so I had to ask Brianna for some of hers, but she had no pomade or gel, and I wasn't about to use hairspray, because A. I would feel weird spraying it on myself and B. It pollutes the air) and my confidence level is above average. Don't get me wrong, I am still nervous as hell, but without George or Lenny begging for blood, I won't have that pressure on me.

I walk out towards the door when I see Brianna in the kitchen with my mom, I decide to run out before they can ask anything, like what do boys like?

"David! Come here a bit, " I hear my mom demand.

I walk backwards and face them in the kitchen, "Yeah?"

"Have you seen Brianna's costume?"

When I see Brianna on the verge to tears, but not sad tears but angry, venomous ones, I know they have been fighting. Why are they getting me involved? What did I do? I look at her costume, I think it's supposed to be a slutty maid. When I see the feather duster that no one even uses anymore, in her hand, I know I am right.

"Erm, what about it?"

Mom looks at me like she wants to smack me, and I don't even know why. "Don't you think that Lenny will get a bad impression if she sees her wearing this at their date?"

"I don't know, it's not like I can read his mind, " I stupidly reply. My father had warned me about being too honest, or in his words, a smartass.

"Okay. What would you think if you had a date and she was dressed like. . ." she looks at Brianna's costume in serious disgust, like it's made out of human skin. "Like that."

"Mom, " I wave my hands like what I am about to say is common sense, even though I know that to her, it will not be. "It's just a costume. Plenty of girls are wearing those."

"Yeah? Well, Brianna is not like those girls."

Ha. . . yeah she is. You don't see her at school every day so you wouldn't know.

"It's a costume. Plus, Lenny is not even like that so you have nothing to worry about." I am lying a bit, but I have places to go here.

"See mom! I told you! Lenny is a decent guy, " I want to just laugh but I swallow it hard, "And it's not like we will be alone! We will be at a party for crying out loud!" Brianna looks at me, daring me to oppose her. I just shrug.

Mom turns to look at me, "Will you go to this party?"

Oh. Great. I guess I have to now, don't I? "Erm, I don't know."

She turns to look at Brianna and point her index finger at her, this is about to get serious. "Okay, you can go wearing that, if David also goes and keeps an eye on you. . . and Lenny."

"Mom―" Brianna starts but mom shuts her up with her glare.

"Alright. Whatever, I'll go, " I add rapidly. The longer I wait, the more it's daunting on me that I will go and talk to Grecia, for real now.

Brianna's face light up. Mom's surprised. She knows I hate parties, mainly because. . . I can't dance and I feel uncomfortable in crowded places. But there, I said it. I will go to the stupid party so stupid Brianna can wear her stupid costume.

When I walked in through the store, I panicked and I rushed towards the party stuff aisle hurriedly. Not as cool as I thought I would come in. But I saw her sticking ads on the windows and

I just stupidly panicked. So I pretended I was in a hurry. That is why I am taking my sweet time looking for a gift for Brianna. I am, honestly, not only nervous but scared also. My hands are sweating and every time I take a step forward, I somehow trip on my own feet, like I was barely learning how to walk.

I look through the cosmetics, I don't even know what half those things are. I start to contemplate to buy her one thing of each, but I decide against it. She doesn't deserve so many presents. I don't even know what she likes. Does she like nail polish? Does she even paint her nails? I haven't really taken noticed of that. I know she likes to dye her hair blonde, but I know nothing about dyes. Does she wear any jewelry?

"Hi, I couldn't help but notice you look like you are lost."

I turn and crap. Grecia is in front of me with that smile.

Fast say something you idiot!

"Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you, am I disturbing you?"

"What? No, no, no, " I reply rapidly like she will turn and run away in any minute. "I was just. . . really focused." I try to hide the pack of napkins behind my back. If she's sees them, she is going to think I rushed inside just for a pack of napkins. How lame is that? She looks at me, then at the cosmetics in front of me.

She looks confused. She doesn't think. . . she doesn't think the make-up is for me, does she?

"I'm looking for a gift for my sister. Our birthday is coming up." I explain.

It looks like she lets out her breath, like she was holding it in for some reason, "Oh, you are Bree's twin brother, huh?" she says surprised for some reason.

I nod. "Yeah."

"You look nothing alike. Maybe your nose and your eyes."

I let out a chuckle, "Yeah, I think we both got lucky with that."

She laughs her beautiful laugh, "Do you need any help picking out a gift?"

"Yes, as you may know, I know nothing about girls' interest." Which can be both a blessing and a curse.

"Do you want to know what I would get her?" she asks.

Yes please. I want to know as much as possible.

She looks at the shelves surveying the contents. Lastly she takes a package from her right and hands it to me. It reads "Variety of eye shadow colors." How many colors does Brianna really need?

"I have a few classes with her and I have noticed that she wears a lot of eye shadow so I am sure she will like this, " she explains. I hope my confusion didn't show too much.

"Alright. I guess I can trust you."

She smiles and is about to walk away, but then turns and asks, "Are you ready to pay?"

I look down at my hands. An eye shadow thing and napkins. I suddenly wish I had grabbed something more manly, like a knife or an axe. Or even shaving cream. "Sure."

So she guides me to the cash register where she attended me last time. She holds my stuff and bips them, she then glances at me, "You don't remember me, do you?"

Yes, yes I do. And I am afraid I will never be able to forget you. In fact, I think I am in love with you.

"Why do you ask?"

She places the things in a white plastic bag and sets it in front of me. "Just a question. I think we had PE together once but I don't think we ever spoke."

Is this happening? Is this really happening?

"I am David, " I say.

She smiles, "Grecia. A pleasure to meet you."

"Pleasure's mine." I am actually doing this. I am having a decent conversation with Grecia, and she did notice me back then and she notices me now. Or maybe she really just sees me around, but that's alright, I'll take what I can get. I wish Lenny and George were here to see this, this will really shut them up.

"It's six fifty."

I hand her a ten dollar bill and she puts it in the cash register, "I hope Brianna likes her present." She hands me my change.

"She will, thanks to you."

She laughs, she laughs. I made her laugh. I didn't think I had it in me but I apparently do. This came out better than I thought it would.
