"You shouldn't have done that, " Mary uttered as she sat in front her dresser undoing her hairstyle. "I can't believe you told him to leave."

Olivia stood by the door and refused to move the minute her sister asked to speak with her. "Pardon me? Were you not present when he started insulting us?"

"He was our guest—"

"And he ruined our evening the second he insulted Maggie, did that not bother you?"

"Of course it did, but you did not have to be so harsh."

Olivia watched her sister with a combination between disbelief and anger. Dereck sat there and insulted their father and her husband to be, he questioned their heroism, did that not make her blood boil like it did hers?

"And also, " continued Mary. "We don't discuss politics during dinner. It is not our place."

Olivia was not in the mood to discuss a woman's place in society, a topic so old, it bored her.

Screams are heard

"You'll go to him, won't you, Helen? You never fail me, and I know you won't fail him."

Olivia nodded. "I shall do my best."

"Helen, I have missed you, " he said as he closed his eyes. "I've missed you so much."

Olivia wipes a tear from her face. "I'm right here, father. I will never leave you."

He drifts into an easy sleep, he's relaxed face seemed so at peace, without terrors, without nightmares. She kissed him on his forehead softly and left his room against her own wishes. Could she sleep alongside his father for just this one night like she did in her childhood?
