The weather had been mild recently, and that morning was no different. The sun prickled the skin with pleasurable warmth while cooling breezes fluttered through clothing. All manners of people walked up and down the cobbled streets. A few carriages also went by. They were loaded with lumber, and Garrett knew he was getting close. He started checking doors for numbers. To his surprise, he reached a massive warehouse with enormous, open doors.

The doorways provided ample room for the passage of carts, but there were none there at the time, just men shouting orders at each other to move this or pick up that. The fencer nearly laughed when he caught sight of Jacque inconspicuously standing by one of the interior doors at the far end of the warehouse. He checked his watch before opening the door and stepped out of sight. Garrett marched past workers, who didn't seem to bat an eyelash at his presence.

"I told you, I didn't have anythin' ta' do with that, " Hannity replied, firmly.

"Explain it to me, " Garrett demanded.

"No. leave with yer' life intact…and stay away from Mathew and his investigation. Go home. Go see yer' ma and da."

"You son of a bitch, " Garrett exclaimed and pounded the desk, thus making some papers fly off. "You're the thieves' guild. You sell information, and I'm buying!"

"Business, eh?" Hannity sighed and let the chair's legs come down. "Five hundred."
