"Larson, you said?"

"Yes…Larson Ross."

"Of course, " the priest breathed. "It was only a matter of time before you found your way here."

"What are you talking about, " Larson asked, gravely.

"Kneel. Close your eyes. Breath slowly and deeply, and empty your mind of thoughts…Akalabash will most assuredly speak to you."

Larson swallowed hard; he was very nervous, and his palms started to sweat. Everything had come onto him like a whirlwind. He hadn't counted on anything so forceful to occur; preaching his loyalty to Akalabash was the last thing on his mind.

"Look, " he said and smiled, involuntarily.

"Hush, my child. You came here for assistance."

"I'm not about to blindly throw my lot in with a God, even the great Akalabash."

"He's already thrown his lot in with you, " Johann asserted. "Kneel, kneel."

Larson looked form Johann to the altar; a marble fist holding a marble sword atop a marble dais. The whole thing looked like one expertly chiseled piece. Then, he looked behind himself, past a few pews, towards the open door, and eventually back to Johann.

"You don't know, do you, " the priest asked, aghast.

"Know what?" Larson nearly choked.

"Never mind–"

"No, I do mind! Know what?" Larson demanded, and his voice reverberated off the darkened, stone walls. Johann simply blinked, his mouth slightly open. He eyed Larson, carefully. "What the Hell is going on?!"

"Your father used to come here."

"My…my father?!"

"Mathew?"

"That is

hand that clasps another in prayer."

"You speak in riddles."

"Apologies, " Johann breathed. "But please…if you require assistance then kneel before the dais…if you need stories, see to our library. You are a welcomed guest here, but know this; whether or not you accept Akalabash as your guiding voice, he has already accepted you, otherwise you would not have been led here."

Larson snorted in derision; he figured anyone who had arrived at the temple had essentially been guided by Akalabash. Why would I be a special case?

"You ponder, and yet you should not ponder alone. You are here. You have heard my account of your father. Now, tell me, why have you really come?"

Larson took a deep breath. "I had a dream about a hand gripping a sword; it killed the dragon that appeared recently."

"Ah, you were involved in its unexpected appearance?"

"So to speak; it appeared after wyverns attacked me and my friend; we were riding from Talsador to seek an audience with Rolas."
