“Bread balls?” One of the prisoners asked, “What kind of fairy

tale does your daughter think she’s in that she saves us with

bread balls?”

“Give her time.” Dem interjected, “Besides, its creative. Admit

it, if you saw a hall full of bread balls that appeared to lead

somewhere wouldn’t you wonder why and follow them?”

“But what’s the purpose of them? Drek was already bringing

Will down here to lock him up. He surely didn’t need the

bread trail to find the prison.” The prisoner argued.

“Perhaps the bread balls are bait intended for someone else.”

Maelynne quietly suggested. She was trying to calm them

down. They had been standing in this cell for hours. It was

tight enough in the cell without a fight breaking out amongst

the inmates.

“Then what? Does she think Webb would be stupid enough to

fall for a dumb scheme like that?” the enraged prisoner

demanded.

“Maybe!” Dem shot back, “His two officers were curious

enough to follow the trail!”

“Alright, now settle down.” A senior prisoner spoke, “We don’t

need to cause a ruckus. That would just bring Webb down

here. And that wouldn’t do us or Rose any good.”

That quieted everybody down. Nobody wanted Webb to come

down. Not in his current state of mind. Regardless, D

tire body. He looked sick.

“I don’t know what to do Capt. Its like your foot is cemented to

the floor.” One of his men said.

“Well figure something out! I don’t intend to sit here all night!”

Webb ordered.

“We don’t know what to do, besides cutting your foot off!” The

man yelled, finally snapping.

“No!” Webb protested quickly, “Don’t do that!”

“Well then shut up and wait while we figure something out. If

you speak again we’ll-“

“What’s that?” Webb pointed to one of the bread balls.

“A bread ball, sir.”

“A bread ball? Hmmm…send someone to follow them. They

might be a clue as to what happened to me.” Webb suggested.

“Yes, sir.” One of the men left to follow the trail. He followed it

all the way to the prison, not paying much attention to where

he was going; he walked right into the open cell. Staring at the
