Five days. Five days of non stop Mason. He drove me to work every morning. He picked me up every night. He cooked dinner with me and watched movies with me. The man seemed to be a per any part of this apartment. Funny, but when rented the place they didn't say it had a kitchen, a walk in closet and a Mason.

Odd as this may sound though, I grew to like having him around. He wasn't over bearing or annoying. He was kind and fun. It was during those days that I began to realize how much I liked having a friend besides Lydia. Something about Mason made me feel more relaxed. I was happier. And I haven't had an attack since that night on the sidewalk. Hence, I didn't have to worry about telling Mason about my medical condition. If he didn't see it, he didn't have to know about it, right?

Well, that may not be right but that's the way I thought. All that aside, I have been quite happy with my work and my two friends. In fact, tonight we are ordering in for pizza and we're going to make ice cream sundaes topped off with a rousing game of clue. I am really looking forward to it. I glanced at the clock hanging by the register. Four thirty-seven. I stare harder at the clock. If I stare hard enough maybe I can will it to move faster. Come on, five o'clock. Hurry up.

"Ma'am."

Tick-tock. Tick-tock. Tttttiiiiccckkk- ttttttttoooooooooooocccckkk. Time is defiantly slowing down.

"Ma'am?"

Maybe the clocks battery is going dead. Ttttttttiiiiiiiiiiioccckk-

There! Time stopped! It never-

Ttttttttttooooooooooock

Never mind. I guess the tock was just slow in coming. Ahhhh!! Five o'clock is nev-

"Ma'am!!"

I jumped when when a voice practically screamed in my ear. I turned to see a teenage girl stan

t, Olivia? You look pale."

I focus on his words and try to forget my thoughts. His words remind me of my thoughts though.

I nod. "Let's go in." I croak. Even my voice sounds bad.

I open the door. The cold wind blows into the car. I hear Mason open his door and get out. He comes around to my side.

Pushing my door closed he slung an arm around my shoulder. "Cheer up, darling. We're going to have a great time tonight."

His words barely register as I focus on the arm around my shoulders. Mason's arm.

Lydia.

Has he has his arm around her. The dating, the kissing, the wedding. The children. They'll call me Aunt Livy.

My head starts to spin. Tears slid unknowingly down my cheeks. I can feel my muscles going weak. Oh, please no! Darkness takes over my mind.
